Yes this is basically a kids film, but as a 40+ person with no kids who has purchased the DVD, I'll happily own up to being an adult who loves this film.

This film set the benchmark for computer animated films when it was released in 1995 and it still looks good today. The story is simple and the characters are marvellous. Whoever thought of the idea that Buzz Lightyear could be a toy who believes he really is a Space Ranger deserved an Oscar. Its a brilliantly conceived idea, which has a funny and at times touching script.

Its also worth mentioning the that the songs are by Randy Newman, a vastly underrated musician and songwriter, whose Uncles wrote the music for some the great Hollywood movies of the 40's and 50's. ... Read More:

The film is definitely worth more than one or two stars. It is very similar to the later seasons of The Simpsons about 8 onwards) where there are moments of genius coupled with major areas where you just think that the writers have run out of ideas. All the major characters are there, Homer takes centre stage and it doesn't outstay its welcome. That's all I think Simpsons fans really want from the film. It was never going to be an all time classic spin off movie - TV films very rarely are. So it can be placed up there with South Park the movie as opposed to being forgotten quickly like Beavis and Butthead. That'll do for me.

Although I already knew about US involvement in the covert war, it was interesting to see it splashed onto screen - not sure how the US Govt feel about it as it shows them being dragged into helping via Wilson, et al, rather than being proactive about it! The cast do a great job at getting into the skin of the characters they portray. I feel the film portray's Wilson's frustrations very well. Having rented the film, it is one I do feel I would buy. However - along with several comments here - that UNICEF advert at the beginning is incredibly annnoying. Was staggered that could not fast forward it, skip it, or get to the Menu. Never come across that before and it really wound me up as had to endure it. More likely to contrbute to UNICEF as a result? No.

Whatever you think of the story, the fact that one man is seen as so important that a relatively dangerous rescue mission is undertaken , involving ultimate sacrifice, the giving of ones life, to achieve the result. Surely this ist he greatest story ever told, that of Aslan in Narnia too, and Jesus Christ dying on a cross that an individual, namely YOU, can be brought home to safety. Tom Hanks' character, Saptain Miller does this ultimately in the film, and others do so along the way.
But there is more! The concept of grace is also dealt with in the film. Amidst all the anonymous killing, there comes out of the German ranks a gunner who Millers small band decide to release, rather than kill him on the spot. They are too small a force to take prisoners, so grace, ... Read More:

I absolutely love this film! It kept me glued to the screen for the entire film, something which not many films have done to me before. You come to love every single one of the characters, especially Forrest, because of his determination through the whole film.

This film is so many categories, you couldn't fit it into one. It made me both cry and laugh, lots! Though the things that happen with the film are very unlikely, the way it is set out makes it surpisingly believable!

It tells a great story, and even now, 14 years on from when it was released, this is an amazing film for all kinds of people.

These days I refuse to watch most CGI movies, mainly because they can run them off a mill as many times a year as they want. For me, Toy Story 2 represents the pinnacle of Computer based films. Touching, funny, and even better looking than its predecessor, this is easily one of the greats from Pixar. I say this now because with such average attempts over the recent years such as Antz, Madagascar, and Cars, the 90's proved that its better to wait 3/4 years for a film that's quality, rather than a glut of lame attempts to cash in.

It sounds and looks even better than the video version of course (believe me, the colours are enhanced hundreds of times better than on the video) and should be bought with the original!

Tom Hanks (Big) stars as Sam, a single parent. A year after losing his wife, he is struggling with the loss and to help him, his son Jonah phones a radio station to ask for advice, and Annie from Baltimore hears and knows she must meet up with Sam.

Filled with plenty of romantic conventions, Nora Ephron's 1993 romantic drama creates a light hearted feel good film, with funny and dramatic moments for viewers of all ages.

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan (When Harry met Sally), in their first collaboration, are perfect in their respective role, especially Ryan who is very funny, where as Hanks takes the more serious roles, which he is always perfect at.

But the actor who steals the show is Ross Maligner, who is exceptional as Sam's son Jonah, a cheeky 8 year ... Read More:

My header says it all, I knew it was going to be good, I mean how could it not be? Tom hanks, Paul Newman.....Jude Law? Without giving too much away, Hanks plays a hit man for the mob lead by Newman, whom is also a father figure to Hanks, favouring him over his own son played by Daniel Craig...

The plot thickens when things turn sour due to the immature and irresponsible actions of Craig which have catastrophic consequences for all involved, especially when the terrifyingly deadly skills of Hanks comes to the fore.

The film however is not all violence, and in fact is truly a heart warming stroy of father and son bonding between Hanks and his son, finding themselves thrust into a situation which neither want, they decide to take the mob head on whilst at the same ... Read More:

As you can tell from the other people's reviews this movie is brilliant!!
But what is not said (at least I don't think so! I didd'nt read all 100+ reviews!) is the picture quality! i'm using a Toshiba 47" 1080i LCD HDTV with a PlayStation3 with HDMI connection.

For a DVD it's got AMAZING detail! I'm surprised they managed to fit this 3 hour film with this quality onto a DVD!! I have a collection of around 500 DVDs & this must be in the top 5 of best picture quality in my selection!

Buy it! you won't regret it! (or wait for the Blu-ray)

All of these films are absolutely magnificent in their own way. A truly great purchase if you don't already have them on DVD. I had all but 3 of these films on DVD, so decided to sell the ones I had and buy this. Only things is, the Monsters INC and Toy Story 1 films in this Box Set are 4:3 as opposed to 16:9, unlike my previous versions - so a bit annoyed about that. Otherwise, this is an excellent purchase. 8 quality films for £45 is amazing value and well worth the investment.
From now, I'll be buying films on Blu-ray though, but this is a great way to say goodbye to Disney Pixar DVD's! Save yourself the trouble of buying each DVD separately and get this!
