George Clooney freely admits that "Ocean's Twelve" was made in order to ensure that both this and "Syriana" saw the light of day. Perhaps this is a case of making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. It is heartening to see something of use coming out of that.

"Good Night & Good Luck" seems, on the surface, to be a film about the witch hunts of Joseph McArthy against perceived threat of communism in America. The film traces journalist Ed Murrow's televisual campaign to discredit the committee set up to investigate this and also McArthy himself. Using newsreel footage to illustrate McArthy's interrogations highlights his approach excellently and also highlights the film's liberal tendencies, but this film isn't a critique on ... Read More:

When I first watched this movie I wasn't very impressed at all and it was totally not at all instersting nor did it have a good realism either.
It is a real pity that Linsay Lohan has gone down hill. Most actresses do and Linsays one. She totally got carried away with too much money too early.
The movie is basicly about a girl Lola who has moved to Jersay in America from her beloved home NY!!She carries on as a real drama queen which just goes on and on...
I personally would not buy it, it is just a waste of money and time.

Im sure everyones stoned in this, or maybe im just paranoid?. Have another look, not just because its still a solid nervy and edgy 70's paranoia film, but look at Donald Sutherlands face as he smirks alot and tries not to laugh in the first half. Marvel in awe as Leornard Nimoy hams it up with a turtleneck and large powerful demmanding sideburns. Geoff Goldblum's just plain eyeball weird anyway. Watch out for people carrying hairy pods around. You have been warned. Ssshhh....i feel a bit tired and flakey

This has some great action and good lines. It's a good film and the stunts have some great moments to them. Well worth buying.

DVD : Weekend at Bernie's 2 [1994] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
As with any sequel, the viewers of the original movie may be a tad disappointed because the formula may have changes some. However this movie can stand alone as one of the outstanding zombie movies like "My Boyfriend's Back" (1993).

Seems we have not seen the last of Bernie. Turns out he embezzled a couple of million dollars and others are out to get it. Our old friends Larry (Andrew McCarthy) and Richard (Jonathan Silverman), accused of being accomplices, found the key and once again are off to the islands. Mean time back at the ranch Bernie is undergoing a voodoo process to track down the deposit box; this process leaves Bernie a dancing fool.

"The Relic" was on TV the other night, and I had never heard of it before then. I don't watch a lot of horror movies, but there was nothing else on, so I thought I might as well check this out, knowing that I could always turn it off if it was rubbish.

To my surprise, I actually quite enjoyed it. This is a fun film. It's nice to see a good old fashioned monster horror, in an age where most horror films are about psychopaths or ghosts, and take the psychological route. The Relic is just a visceral feast of violence and gore. The monster itself remains largely unseen for the majority of the film, with just flashes here and there, and when we finally do see it in all it's glory it is reasonably impressive. I liked the story, although I have two major complaints ... Read More:

Although billed as a comedy The Year of the Dog is not an easy film to watch. Saying that, it is a truly unusual film and is impossible to catagorize. The situation and the characters are deceptively commonplace but the subject matter is one that I don't believe has ever been so closely examined before in a film. The main character is a woman (fabulous central performance from Molly Shannon) who relates to and loves animals at least equally if not more than her fellow two-legged creatures. Actually she only truly realises and accepts this fact as the film unfolds. There are comic moments but ultimately The Year of the Dog is a truly thought-provoking, albeit uncomfortable piece of cinema and I believe an important film for people to see.

A great film demonstrating the power and passion for political ideology in Europe in the the early to mid twentieth century, although also sadly demonstrating the inevitable futility when bound within the human condition. Full of inspiration and courage! Great!

DVD : Invasion of the Body Snatchers [1956] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

Definitely one of the most exciting sci-fi movies ever made!

This is one of those movies that can be watched over and over again and still be enthralling - no re-make could ever match this original, starring Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter.

Huge seed pods arrive from outer space that 'hatch' and take on the form of 'imageless' human bodies. As soon as the nearest person falls asleep, 'it' becomes that person - exactly the same in every way, but without emotion. A Doctor and his girl put up a tremendous fight against this phenomenon, and this film is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end!

Great stuff!
