Really enjoyable; Classic 70s campy fun-Baker on top form, great debut from Lalla Ward. If you want a serious plot/acting extravoganza-swerve, if you want a bit of a giggle and light hearted fun-then it's a must have. Noone beats the Baker!

Error 1) Bald guard from bus is being congratulated for saving the stabbed guard (who was actually saved by Kimble) - The stabbed guard then turns up later and everyone acts as if he's just been found "under the train".

Error 2) The supposedly "smart" Marshal tries to shoot Kimble during the prisoner visit when he obviously knows full well that he's innocent from the scene at the hospital.

This movie is very funny indeed. However it's not suitable for children, old-fashioned people with manners,or parents who are thinking of paying for their sons and daughters' education at a university. The sad thing is that students really do behave this badly.I couldn't watch it again because apart from the gross behaviour of the students there isn't much of a story going on.

I thought this was a great mini-series. There were a few points where I literally laughed out loud at the antics of the characters. Having not read the book yet, I found one or two little things that I didn't really understand but it didn't spoil the overall enjoyment.

I have nothing bad to say about this. I loved the costumes and settings and intend to watch this many more times in the future. It is also the reason I have bought the book, which otherwise, I probably wouldn't have bothered with.

I will admit at once that The Leisure Hive comes from an era of Doctor Who with some decline and that, yes, it was JNT's first day. However, things need to be put right because I have a confession:
THE LEISURE HIVE IS EXCELLENT!

When I first watched this serial, I will confess to being dissapointed. I thought that in comparison to other serials, The Leisure Hive was mediocre at best, even bordering bad.
But that was the past and now, after many more watches, I say The Leisure Hive is brilliant. You appreciate this serial more with extra viewing, to fully appreciate the bigger picture of the plot and the interesting concepts. Don't be drawn in by first opinions. I understand if you are. But please, I have to say that ... Read More:

One of the most outstanding BBC single dramas. Perhaps it shares the blame a little too evenly, but you cannot have everything.

Why is it that the BBC's outstanding dramas are never published in the UK. I think also of "Foreign Field" (USA only). The BBC seems to make a habit of only publishing its rubbish lately and ignoring its gems.

Helena Bonham Carter is at her best in this gem of a film, as are her Co actors.

I do not understand that the news of the brilliance of this film, has not been more widely spread, and therefore I will do my best to chime in the chorus of praise of this film.

It surpasses Gosford park and most period drama by miles. The portraits of the prime actors is delicately cut and reveals the nature of each role to the bone, heart and spirit of the character as well as the spirit and hypocrisies of the time.

What can't be done, should have been done and what is done should have been avoided. It is the keepers of the rules and the "right thing to do", who ruins all by not knowing that the lives and happiness of all are at stake here. The winners ... Read More:

DVD : Quigley Down Under [1990]
"Matthew Quigley is really beginning to annoy me." That's Elliot Marston (Alan Rickman) speaking. He owns a huge cattle station in Australia's outback and he's hired Quigley (Tom Selleck) to come over from America's wild west and do some shooting for him. When Quigley arrives at the station, however, he finds out the shooting Marston has in mind is the killing of Aborigines. The Australian government has left the "problem" of Aborigines up to the land owners and calls it pacification by force. As Marston points out to Quigley, "As primitive as they are, they've still learned to keep themselves out of rifle range." But Quigley's having none of it, gets into a fight with Marston, and winds up abandoned with a woman he befriended, Cora (Laura San Giacomo), in the middle of the Australian ... Read More:

Somehow I missed this first time around, and tuned in to see it on BBC3, however missed a lot of that as well, so time to buy the DVD. Have to say this was an excellent DVD, well shot, good special effects and an outstanding cast list. Also, for once, this was pretty faithful to the original unlike many Hollywood remakes. Well worth a purchase!
