YOU HAVE TO GET UP AND TURN THE BLOODY DVD OVER TO WATCH THE SECOND HALF OF THE FILM!!!!!

I mean, please accept my apologies, but I thought we were in the 21st century? I havent had to turn anything over since listening to my 'Best of the Clash' LP back in the early 90's pre CD days!

Why this DVD is still available I don't know.

Buy the special edition instead and watch one of cinema's greatest achievements UN-INTERRUPTED.

This film is one of my faves.
Hugh Grant plays the character of a British man living in New York, who wants to marry the daughter of a mafia mobster.
There is are so many laughs in this film, my funniest moment is the scene in the steak house, where he tries to fit in with his fater in law to be and his mafia buddies, and it all goes horiibly wrong!
You have to buy this film, you wont be able to just watch it once.

seems there are lots of 5 star reviews for this film and whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion I just don't get it. It's a film from the 80s, not much happens, no one talks very much and then it ends.
A young man is framed by a psychotic hauer for some murders he is pursued by comical, Texas cop stereotypes whilst jumping round all the holes in the plot. That's about it. 'tense, gripping thrill ride'? I've had more excitement driving to work.

The creation of the television set was seemingly set to herald the advent of a new age where we could travel to far off places and experience new cultures and ways of living from the comfort of our own homes. So, we get Big Brother and more interior decorating shows than there are houses in the world!

But, just when you begin to despair, something comes along that makes you realise just what the TV was created for. In recent years, surprisingly, the US has been responsible for some of the greatest drama and comedy on TV - we have The West Wing, Crime Scene Investigations, Six Feet Under, 24....but more importantly, we have the Sopranos.

Like a cross between Goodfellas and Analyse This, The Sopranos had me hooked from the first episode. What separates ... Read More:

DVD : Small Time Crooks [2000]
When you learn that Woody Allen made a film with Tracy Ullman as his leading lady, then you say to yourself that you would like to see that movie. But when you are finished watching "Small Time Crooks" the two people you are probably going to be talking about the most are Elaine May and Elaine Stritch, who pretty much steal every single scene in which they appear in this film. However, this makes sense, because "Small Town Crooks" is a film where about five minutes in your figure out what the twist is going to be, but then you discover that is going to be the first of several twists that keep you spinning around from start to finish in this film. Allen's nebish this time around is Ray Winkler, a former crook who conceives of a self-admittedly "brilliant" plan for robbing a bank, ... Read More:

DVD : Sweet and Lowdown [2000] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
Let's say we can divide Woody Allen's career into four periods. We're currently in the Johansson Era, but prior to that we had the Keaton Era, the Farrow Era, and then that stretch without a consistent lead actress to provide a snappy categorisation. We'll call that the Third Era, and this film - Sweet & Lowdown - is one of Woody's better efforts from that time. It's about 1930s guitarist Emmet Ray - the second best in the world after Django Reinhart - a musical genius but shambolic jerk who makes a bit of a mess of his life.

Unusually, the big draw here is less Allen's humour and observation and more the performances he gets from his lead actors, both of whom earned themselves Oscar nominations. Sean Penn is excellent as the brash, drunken musician who loves to ... Read More:
