WONDERFULL, I recently saw it on the big screen and even though I'd seen it many times before it is one of my favourite films, well into the Top 5. The only slight concern is that no way would the pretty Jean Simmons have turned into Valery Hobson. John Mills was very good but a little weedy compared to the excellent boy who played him as a young Pip. Finlay Currie was fantastic, so scary & even though he was a 'very naughty boy' we still like him, especially when he turns up on Pip's door one wet & windy night after his disappearing act , brurrr!
So if you buy the DvD you'll not be disappointed, if you are then you is without soul or heart, 'Dear Boy!'.

DVD : David Hemmings: Be My Guest [1965] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
This delightful little film set in the sixties before it was really swinging has David Hemmings before he was a star.He plays a young lad from London whose family inherit a guest house in Brighton. He and his mates{including a young Steve Marriott of the Small Faces}end up writing a pop song as well as having fun by the sea.The bloke who plays Sid James son in Bless This House crops up in this film as well as Lionel Blairs sister,Joyce. Its all very innocent stuff and features cameos by Jerry Lee Lewis and the Nashville Teens.

DVD : The Wind Cannot Read [1958]

A big British picture, and one of the greatest and saddest love stories captured on film starring Dirk Bogarde and Yoko Tani (who incredibly were to die within only weeks of each other in 1999)

This is a very rare and hard to find title on both VHS and DVD - a beautiful story set against the scenic backdrop of India. This movie will appeal to both romance lovers and lovers of war films alike, as untypical of this genre; this film includes some action for the guys!

Dirk Bogarde is at his most handsome here, and plays one's ideal charming dream of a man perfectly, for any young girl wishing to experience love for the very first time. When I first saw this, I just longed for an affair, and to fall in love with a man just the ... Read More:
