I just have one thing to say: save your time.. and money! This film is literally the worst piece of work I have ever seen. It has absolutely no plot whatsoever, and not even the good talents like Terence Howard could save this piece... Even 1 star is too good a rating in this case.

I am neither male nor black nor an American, yet from the first time I saw this movie I found myself drawing uncomfortable parallels between myself and Jody, your main character. I probably shouldn't have been so surprised; John Singleton has always had a talent for creating characters that you can relate to regardless of your place in life. From what I've heard, the late Tupac Shakur had been Singleton's first choice for the movie, and after Shakur's death he searched for a long time until he found Tyrese Gibson - understandable, because with Shakur's legendary talents, any role of his would be a hard one to fill. i only got this film a few months ago of a friend as they recommended it and i can tell you that i have seen it over and over already and it has got to be on of the funniest films ive seen, it does not get boring and i can continue to watch it over and over again! I recommend to anybody that enjoys a great comedy and anybody who likes the wayans bro's as they are a great acting duo! BUY NOW!!!!!

When this movie first came out I thought it was a good flick but when I recently watched it again I wonder why. First-time director Ice Cube makes some pretty bad decisions in this movie, mainly in that his movie is dreadfully dull. You may wonder how a low-rent black version of "Showgirls" could be dull, but then you've yet to see "The Players Club." Personally this movie could have been made over twenty years ago starring Pam Grier. It's like that. Apparently, it's perfectly OK to perpetuate and even celebrate cuttingly negative stereotypes, but only if you belong to the minority you're exploiting.
