To start with I have to say that this is one of the best films that I have ever seen. The reason - it really is simply magical; it has a lovely feel about it that can't be expressed in words.

Now to those who want a story accurate to the traditional German folk story, as was collected by the Brothers Grimm, this may not be for you. It in fact is really quite different though it does stick to the general premise. It incorporates a mix of elements, many new, however others taken from "The Snow Queen". However, as all folk and fairy tales change over time, this version is no inferior to any other, and in my opinion at least this is the best.

Many reviewers have called this a "dark" film. I wouldn't necessarily agree, ... Read More:

I just purchased House of the Dead and I really enjoyed it. Most people hated the film but I thought it was really good. Although the acting is cheesy, the storyline is bad and the shots of the games that are shown are quite weird, if you want a film with non-stop action, then House of the Dead is a great choice.

Uwe Boll- is a love or hate director-
But don't listen to the Haters, with this film he has pushed some boundaries within horror and that is hard to do nowadays- (If people can do better- then get out there and show us! and stop bloody moaning!!)
There are some very disturbing death scenes - and Uwe has been relentless - I am an hardened gore fan and even i was a little disturbed (in a good way) by the prolonged- single take hammer death with the woman on the chair! Nice!!
Don't buy if easily offended- but if you like your serial killer horror brutal and gory- then this is a must! But you must get the Unrated version!!
P.s-
Please Ignore the DVD artwork for the U.S.A release (unrated) - Why they decided to put this silly ... Read More:

This is definitely a film to watch, with a good story, superb special effects, and something I find rare these days: a supremely well generated atmosphere. This one certainly feeds the imagination

My son (now 10) and our family fell in love with this original Emmy award winning Dinotopia mini-series with it's 'all star' cast. It's a two DVD set edited into a superb long film (running over to the second DVD). Personally I prefer serials like these kept to their original episodes and credits to maintain pace and the episode cliff hanger, particularly for the kids at bedtime, but this film works quite well. It's extras include an interesting 'making of' featurette. My son absolutely couldn't tolerate the spin off Dinotopia full series than came later when they changed all the actors, and still hasn't watched his multi-DVD `series' set despite watching this original Dinotopia film on many times. The spin-off series has a more jocular mood with less dino ... Read More:

I wanted to like this film i really did, as I am a fan of the games, but if i'm honest with myself this is a BAD film. It's okay if you look at it as a bit of fun, but for a zombie film there is no gore whatsoever, the action scenes are spoiled by putting in shots from the game in, which is done really badly. The only good thing about the film is that jurgen prochnow is in it, but at the same time, what is an actor of his calibur doing in a movie like this, you can so it's so bad that it's good, but bewarned fans of the game who havent seen this film, you will be disapointed!

I find it ironic that the very man who put the wheels in motion and created the whole series MASTERS OF HORROR,is its weakest link, unfortunatly he did exactly the same thing in season one with his episode CHOCOLATE.Garris directed the worst of season 1 and now as though not wanting to dissapoint us does exactly the same thing on season2.Valerie on the stairs just doesnt gel,its a silly story with mostly poor performances and a Monster that looks like and ANGRY man dipped in JAM!!!!!.Garris episodes are too character driven,by that I mean ofcourse we want an attempt to show real people in real situations but this approach overtakes everthing else in the story and he seems to forget that we tuned in to watch HORROR,thats HORROR!!!! MR Garris as in MASTERS OF HORROR.Chocolate ... Read More:
