With the current Batman craze because of the Dark Knight, it was time for me to re-visit these movies. For me these are still good, especially the first 2, however not the Dark Knight I am afraid to say. These movies are more like the Comic Book Batman before the Dark Knight re-invention, and do have that more superhero comic book feel with some homage to the TV series. This is even more evident because of the new movies which have a much more sinister and 'real' feel to them. The new movies very much set Batman in a 'real' world setting, makes you feel that maybe this could happen, wheras this series is very much more fantasy, with the feel of Gotham City, the gadgets and the enemies. This is best highlighted with the difference in the Joker ... Read More:

This is the brilliant film about being the best pilots, silly nicknames, and cheesy one liners! ( I feel the need, the need, for speed!) Brillant 'dog fighting' action scenes, and a great soundtrack, Not to be missed!

Deja vu is a good watch spoiled a bit by it's dodgy execution. I came away feeling I'd watched two short films both with Denzel Washington in them that had been stuck together to make one feature.

The plot revolves around Washington's character Doug Carlin investigating a bombing on a ferry in New Orleans. One of the bodies that washes up is that of beautiful young woman who is missing four fingers (this is important later) but it turns out couldn't have been a victim of the ferry blast istself as forensic evidence points to her death being some two hours before. This leads Carlin to investigate the young woman's relevenace to the case.

It's at some point around here that the FBI introduces itself to Carlin and more specifically ... Read More:

what a wasted opportunity. what a waste of money. what a waste of Angie jolie in gorgeous ancient greek attire with the snakes and all.
Begin at the end. Good idea Olie ! not. Tell the story in a series of flashbacks. Dead clever, Dead literary, dead movie results.
Don't let's start on the irish accents. Bad idea. Twittering leprechaun Alexander the midget wit de mophead trying to be DEEP at the end of every scene. I wouldn't follow this demigod to the village pub never mind accross THE KNOWN WORLD.
No No this is not a sword and sandal greek tragedy more a hollywood flip flop on a gigantic scale.
Two characters really. Him and his mum, mum and him. The rest as portable scenery, who cares. No narrative drive, no convincing emotional dynamo at the ... Read More:

Shane Black is easily one of the pioneering writers in action films, being responsible for the entire Lethal Weapon series, The Last Boy Scout, Last Action Hero and The Long Kiss Goodnight. It wasn't until Kiss Kiss Bang Bang though, that he took the reins as a director and the result is one of the most enjoyable films in years.
The film follows Robert Downey Jr and Val Kilmer as a burglar who accidentally lands a major hollywood role and the private detective tasked with giveing him detective lessons respectively. Downey Jr breathes charisma as the perpetually out of his depth Harry, one of the most likeable protagonists Black has written. Kilmer plays the brilliantly grumpy Gay Perry completely deadpan and makes the perfect straight man to Harry's fumbling incompetence. ... Read More:

I recently bought the digitally mastered dvd of this lovely fantasy film. I haven't watched this film for a good 25 years but seeing it now was still as enjoyable than when I was 14 years old. This is a classic fantasy film that hasn't lost it's appeal as it doesn't rely on special effects which would look cheap nowadays. I am not going to write much about the content of the film itself as others before me have already done it justice.
The reason why I didn't give it the full 5 stars is that there are a few scenes at the end where the remastering actually decreased the picture quality.
I bought this dvd from bargainhunters who advertised it as a special edition which was supposed to come in a nice case but actually this version is packaged cheaply in a thin plastic cover ... Read More:

TRUE ROMANCE is a very good film. It's brutal and funny and has an excellent cast - that is with one exception: Christian Slater is a total miscast in the lead role. Otherwise it's got brilliantly staged action scenes (I like it when the pimp gets it). Finally released in its UNRATED version in the UK (rather than the cut R Rated as on VHS).

I'm not religious in any sense of the word, so my review will be based purely on the film placed in front of me, and not on any historical innacuracies and deviances from the actual story, or any religious implications in the film.

I was blown away by this film to be honest. The story, the voice acting, the animation, it was all faultless, and though the songs took a bit of getting used to (they didn't seem to have that sweet, flowing quality I was used to seeing in most cartoon musicals) the soundtrack fits the film incredibly well, with the obvious standout song of 'there can be miracles' made famous by Mariah carey and whitney Houston. One fault I did have however was the script, which at times felt slightly awkward, but the voice actors did the best with what they had, and that small ... Read More:

I absolutely love this film. It has the perfect balance between action and drama and the performances are truely great. I love the fact that my two favourite actors (Pacino and DeNiro) are in it as enemies.

I cannot believe that some people have given it 1 star!!
