The first two Alien films are amazingly good, & the rest are well worth watching but less excellent. This is a great collection & good value for money.

There are plenty of customer reviews of this superb film already - wonderful acting by all the cast; great directing and a deft adaptation, though it takes liberties with Updike's novel. An absolute classic which is great fun to watch again and again.

My gripe, here, is with the print of the Warner Home Video DVD. Poor picture quality, particularly in the first half hour, is a huge disappointment. And the sound is not that good, either. The age of the film is no excuse. I watched, the day before, an immaculate and sparkling print of the Bette Davis classic NOW VOYAGER, so if a 1940s movie can look that good, Warners should have done better with this 1987 film.

This happens time and again with a good many DVDs. ... Read More:

I think the best thing about The Birds is that it is directed by Alfred Hitchcock, to me anything with his name fronting it is scary.
Tippi Hedren stars as an attractive woman who moves to a small town somewhere in the U.S. For no given reason 'the birds' start behaving wildly, pecking people's eyes out & doing all those things we know birds are capable of but don't expect them to do.
Amongst all this there is a blossoming romance between Hedren & Rod Taylor.
In contrast with most horror movies made in this era it is quite scary, there is more blood than most cinema goers of that decade would have been used to.
What I didn't like about the film was that there is no real reason for the birds acting so bizarrely; ... Read More:

As New Orleans is getting ready for Mardi Graus, art teacher Annie Tarrant, (Kelly Rowan) is worried that her brother Ethan, (William O'Leary) won't stay out of trouble long enough to help her long enough to find her missing father. As she begins looking back on her childhood to find answers, she comes into repeated contact with the legend of Daniel Robitaille, the Candyman, (Tony Todd) and she can't understand why. As more bodies pile up and she begins seeing the Candyman appearing at all the murder locations and even haunting her, she looks to the past to stop the madman.

The Good News: The "Candyman" series, I think, is actually pretty underrated, and this one is pretty good. The fact that this one goes back to his origins and explains ... Read More:

i first saw this film on tv (well the last halfhour)and decided i had to see it from the begining it is very well acted by all.The story is about two friends who run a boarding school then a little girl spreads a nasty rumour that the women are lesbians and the parents remove the children from the school as their world falls apart one of the women realises her true feelings for the other this ends up a sad but thought provoking story. This is well worth seeing especially for maclaine's portrail of martha.

Im sure everyones stoned in this, or maybe im just paranoid?. Have another look, not just because its still a solid nervy and edgy 70's paranoia film, but look at Donald Sutherlands face as he smirks alot and tries not to laugh in the first half. Marvel in awe as Leornard Nimoy hams it up with a turtleneck and large powerful demmanding sideburns. Geoff Goldblum's just plain eyeball weird anyway. Watch out for people carrying hairy pods around. You have been warned. Ssshhh....i feel a bit tired and flakey

This is an amazing film that has so much suspense and atmosphere it truly pulls the viewer in. There's plenty of shocks which are excellently timed, and when the alien does appear it doesn't disappoint in the least. The cast are all superb and the direction is incredible.

A fantastic film.

"There was a demon that lived in the air. They said whoever challenged him would die. Their controls would freeze up, their planes would buffet wildly and they would disintegrate. The demon lived at Mach 1 on the meter, 750 miles an hour, where the air could no longer move out of the way. He lived behind a barrier through which they said no man could ever pass. They called it the Sound Barrier.

"Then they built a small plane, the X-1, to try and break the Sound Barrier, and men came to the high desert of California to ride it. They were called test pilots, and no-one knew their names."

With its communal desert funerals and men riding out of the night to exchange their horses for jets, The Right Stuff's extraordinary opening places it firmly as a mythic ... Read More:
