Dallas: War Of The Ewings

Well it is a pretty stand alone season since Pam was dreaming it all up ! It is a bit far-fetched with Angelica going on a killing spree & trying to pretend that a very rich shipper is still alive . Seeing JR caring for his son and Donna & Ray's grief over the loss of their child injects realism into things a bit by showing the characters as more multi-dimensional than one might think at first . Pam going missing in South America invokes memories of Jock's death in an accident there and Mark returning provides Pam with some consolation after Bobbies death .

Sue Ellen finds yet another boyfriend while JR schemes and annoys the cartel - so no change there then ! It is lovely to see the ... Read More:

The '84-'85 season of "Dallas" was a pivotal one in many ways. It saw the show being somewhat overshadowed in the ratings by that ABC upstart "Dynasty"; it was the year that Barbara Bel Geddes was replaced by Oscar/Emmy-winner Donna Reed in the role of the beloved "Miss Ellie"; and it also saw the "departure" of another popular cast member at season's end. Though these developments may have been new and shocking to dedicated fans, there was enough of the old to keep 'em satisfied.

J.R. (the superb Larry Hagman) is still up to his same old tricks but fids himself smitten by the new girl in town, Mandy Winger, played by Deborah Shelton. Unlike other of the oilman's conquest, Winger really appeals to J.R., not just sexually but on an "intellectual" ... Read More:

Here we have it - the first of the classic "Dallas" DVD sets!

The series that originally started out as a TV mini-series (the first 5 episodes on this package now re-titled as 'Season 1') and eventually was responsible for coining the term 'Soap' as a blueprint for a number of imitations to come.

This groundbreaking, award-winning ratings-grabber told the story of the oil rich Ewing family, and focused on the trials and tribulations of their everyday lives of power, wealth, love, greed, lust, and ambition. There are some wonderfully-written character portrayals and story lines that unfold in these early episodes which primarily centred around the events of youngest Ewing sibling, Bobby and his new bride, Pamela. All is not well from the off ... Read More:

"Dallas," though one of CBS's top-rated shows, was showing a slight drop in the ratings at the start of the show's SIXTH season.

The producers decided to add some controversy and spice to the show with a May-December romance between Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) and her son's trainer, Peter (special guest Christopher Atkins). There is also the end of the beloved marriage of Bobby (Patrick Duffy) and Pam (Victoria Principal) and the rekindling of a romance between Bobby and old flame Jenna Wade, now played by Priscilla Presley. The third highlight of the season sees the marriage of Ewing matriarch Miss Ellie (Barbara Bel Geddes) and Clayton Farlow (Howard Keel).

Of course, of all the characters, the dominant character is still J.R. Ewing, superbly played ... Read More:

The worldwide mega-hit drama that dominated the 80s returns with the wheelings and dealings of those entertaining and feuding oil-rich Texans in this Season 10 DVD of all the action from Southfork and Ewing Oil. DALLAS returns to its original formula of focusing on the charismatic Ewing family, their in-fighting and J.R.'s scheming. This dramatically vibrant season won the U.S. People's Choice Award for Favourite Night Time Dramatic Serial in 1987 and its quality scripts, tightly woven plots and imaginative storylines breathe new life into the show.

Larry Hagman puts on his famous Texan Stetson for another great performance as that lovable villain J.R. Ewing who this season engineers one of his biggest and sneakiest schemes in a plot to blow up rival Arabian oil fields ... Read More:

Here comes another season of J.R.'s (Larry Hagman) double-dealing ways as he attempts, this time, to wrench control of Ewing Oil from his brother and his mother. The body count rises, literally and figuratively, as the dastardly anti-hero works his machinations for his ultimate ends.

New characters are introduced that play important parts in the developing story line while other characters find themselves more embroiled in the ongoing saga of the Ewing clan.

As far as the new are concerned, prominent among those are Holly Harwood (Lois Chiles) as a reluctant ally to J.R. She finds herself initially fascinated by the oil man but soon sees the real J.R. and eventually must decide where her allegiance lies.

Mark Grayson (John Beck) becomes the ... Read More:

"Dallas's" place in television history is cemented and Larry Hagman's "J.R. Ewing" ranks as one of the medium's most despicable yet captivating characters. That said, the third season (actually the SECOND full one) has more to tout than Mary Martin's son and the cliffhanger-to-end-all-cliffhangers, "A House Divided".

This is the season that introduced Mary Crosby's wickedly alluring "Kristen Sheppard". The role had been originated by Coleen Camp in two earlier episodes but Bing's daughter made it her own, assuring her place in the annuls of television crime with an episode that would premiere in the following season. Also on hand is Martha Stewart as Sue Ellen's mother. Stewart had a lengthy Hollywood career and is best remembered for her motherly roles, having played Charlton ... Read More:

Now this is when Dallas got seriously good. Swellin stands by her man when he's riddled with bullets, but once JR's on the mend, Swellin hits the bottle, and their turbulent marriage lights up the screen. Dallas really is soap at its best, and all the favourites are there, plus some new characters, to spice up Series 4. However, the most successful themes are familiar: JR being dastardly, Swellin's lip quivering, bun fights at the Ewing Barbecue, poor Miss Ellie trying to keep the clan together, Bobby being perfect and more gratituous shots of the original Pammy in her swimsuit, long before lycra and silicone were the norm. And for all female fans, it's worth it just to see the fashion. Hark back to a time when stilletos matched your clutch bag, and bubble perms were the latest invention for hair. ... Read More:

Certainly one of the greatest disaster movies ever made, and one of the biggest movies of the 70s. Stars Lorne Greene, Charlton Heston, George Kennedy and Ava Gardner. A story of ordinary life with everyday problems that swiftly melt into insignificance when a massive earthquake strikes and threatens the survival of a large city!

This has some great special effects for its day, and some interesting stories woven into the disaster. Also stars a young Victoria Principal (Dallas)

Great movie!
