the first 20 minutes of this film is mind blowing with the d-day beach landings where the soldiers just run into artillery fire and bombs it's so realistic it's frightning.
but then the action slows down has we follow the rescue mission , the cast all perform brilliantly and the "master" mr spielberg keeps us entertained throughout the journey but after the start to the film any other action scene's will obviously dissapoint.this film is a must buy for all war film fans just for the brutal battle scene's alone.

Please note that this review contains spoilers.

The Iron Giant is a film that is almost totally unique in the history of contemporary animation. It is a provoking and poignant story that is exciting without being brainless and thoughtful without being condescending.

I won't go into the particulars of the story itself since that is probably summarised by Amazon and most other reviewers. Instead I will say that this film has a particular gift which is to teach children by treating them as adults and to entertain adults in a child-like way. It is moving and funny and entertaining; never straying too far from the habits of its characters in order to thrust a moral lesson home, nor suspending story for the sake of a joke and, perhaps most ... I'd heard a fair bit about this film since it came out quite a few years ago, and finally I got my hands on a copy of it and this didn't disappoint. With great performances from Giovanni Ribisi, Ben Affleck and Vin Diesel, a great story, a really good old school hip hop soundtrack and very well filmed this has to be seen as a modern classic. Based around the illegal stockbroking business this film plays out like a gangster movie without actually being a gangster movie. By this I mean it is similar in the way it is about organised crime and we follow the rise of the central character(Ribisi) from a nobody who makes a bit of cash setting up illegal poker games to becoming the pinnacle of the illegal stockbroking business. Though having resemblences with gangster movies ... Read More:

I'll keep this as short as possible.
I remember around 7 years ago, I watched this for the first time. I was quite young and I was absolutely mesmerized by it. Today, I had a craving to watch it again for the first time in 7 years. I dug out the old dusty VHS from the attic and played it. After watching it once again, I was completely blown away. The animation has not a aged a bit and the story is as touching as ever.

Don't pass the chance up to watch this classic. A legendary film that I shall remember for the rest of my life.

fast cars, pretty women, high speed chases, guns, explosions and only the first of the trilogy! But the first is the best!

Vin diesel plays his role as a hijacker/crime boss/street racer/ father brilliantly. Paul walkers undercover cover is less belivable but still the driving scenes, the cars and the pretty women are more than enough to distract you from his poor performance.

As the title suggests this film isnt going to challenge the mind, its street racing, gang warfare and criminal intent interlaced with semi naked women and high speed pursuits.

Well worth owning its enjoyable to watch, the race scenes are good fun and the story is plausible!

Even though this movie starts off with the usual: something goes wrong, spacecraft crashes, people are stranded etc. it still pulls off and introduces the viewer to some new ideas. Riddick is somewhat of a badass convict and has modified his eyes so he is able to see in the dark which is a sought after ability in the situation the shipcrew and he is in. The cutting in the movie is very good and emphasizes the mystique that shrouds around the anti-hero and male protagonist: "Riddick." The story in Pitch Black is, as already mentioned, to some extent very unoriginal and dissatisfied, but the clipping and cutting in the movie blended with some surprising elements which has been added to the story helps it to still support itself very well and one is afterwards left behind with a hybrid ... Appalling acting - even by Judi Dench - how did she ever let herself be involved.
The is no real story - and what there is is inconsistent between beginning and the end.
Poor special effects.
Dire action sequences. The fights are laughable.
But worst of all the continuity is shot.

Like many of the reviewers passing comment here, I too feel as if the bad reviews in the press did a disservice to a damn good sci-fi yarn! Pitch Black, while an impressive low(er) budget sci-fi film, owed much to previous films of the genre, but did so with a refreshingly confident twist, creating believable scenarios and good FX.
Riddick on the other hand is a whole different beast, and instead of Pitch Black part two, which would have been a safer bet at the box-office, we get a whole new universe and history to fill in the many blacks left teasingly vacant by Pitch Black.
COR probably suffers by comparison to a certain Star Wars franchise universe, (which frankly left me bitter for many a year after the Phantom Menace) Sure the FX may not be as mind-blowing, but the story and acting ... Read More:
