This is a great movie, the music and acting are fantastic, however the quality of the film is terrible, especially at the beginning. Little Anna Mae looked more like the Elephant Man on our copy of the DVD (unless we have a duff one) and spoilt our enjoyment of the film. But we hung on in and whether it got better quality or we just got used to it, it was a great film!

Matthew Broderick (war games) stars as Ferris Bueller, a cocky teenager who doesn't want to go to school on a day when the sun is shining and there is so much to explore, and this ideology, I believe, is something that is hidden in all of us.

How many of us wake up in the morning and think, ah the hell with it, I'm skipping school/work today and going exploring, to see sights and enjoy myself! It is something with its consequences, but with so many more personal benefits. Both are explored in a comedy fashion by John Hughes in my personal favourite teenage comedy.

Undoubtedly there are problems when skipping the day of the normal routine, whether that's your jealous sister (Grey) or a paranoid teacher (Jones) and these ... Read More:

A brilliant film that stands the test of time. This movie depicts a day in the life of Ferris, who decides to take the day off school by outwitting the adults in his life. This is Matthew Broderick at his best and features Jennifer Grey before Patrick Swayze got his hands on her in "Dirty Dancing".

DVD : Lady Sings the Blues [1972] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
I heartily endorse everything that the previous reviewer has written.

It's funny how some movies that were not popular on release become cult classics, yet others like this one, that were huge hits and received critical acclaim and awards, fade into obscurity. As a biopic it was wildly inaccurate, but most Hollywood biopics were inaccurate. The real story of Billie Holliday would not have played in 1972! 'Lady Sings The Blues' is still a great movie, and captures Billie's spirit in some ways.

The disc comes with a lot of extras. There are over half an hour of deleted scenes. Having watched the movie so often, I know exactly where they slot in, and it is good to see them after all this time.

There is also an all ... Read More:
