I have rated it 1 star, only because 0 stars is not a valid entry. The DVDs are absolute rubbish in comparison to the enjoyable books. The story has been changed, the special effects are poor generally (Vortex above building in Night Watch was spot on though) and irritatingly, rather than importantly, the "twilight" is translated in subtitles in Night Watch and English audio in Day Watch as "gloom". What is film 3 going to be called? "Gloom Watch"!? It leaves you (if you could bring yourself to keep watching) sadly wondering what the makers of The Matrix or Underworld could have done with the original material instead. These films are certainly not worthy of a comparison to The Matrix or Underworld in any other way.

I have read all the books (So far!) in the series and enjoyed them. I have watched Nightwatch and whilst not being totally true to the story was still very close, and a well done film. I have just sat down and watched this, and the only thing that relates to the book is 'The Chalk of Destiny' - Not how it is obtained, or even what is is used for. Instead they have made up their own terrible story. Why not just stick to the book, which was really good! I do not see the point of making a film of the book, when you are not going to relate to it at all. Also the film was very difficult to follow, as nothing was really explained. A dark, dirty and beautiful film. You just have to be prepared to make an effort to understand what is going on, but I like the fact that it challenges you, that it is not only stylish, but also intelligent. Visually, it's beautiful, and the story is well.. cool. That is actually the best way I can describe it! It's dark and gritty, but if you aren't into the whole action/vampires combination, then chances are you will just dismiss this. I haven't read the book, so I cannot judge whether the film does justice to the book. I loved the plotline, it was confusing at times, but you'll get it if you pay attention.
