I watched The Incredibles with my 4 year old son this afternoon. This was the second attmept at watching it after we had to switch it off some months before because the film became too intense for him. He wanted to watch it again ("All the way through this time!") and so we settled down, turned down the lights and amped up the 5.1 surround sound. The first ten minutes had me laughing at Mr Incredible's attempts to do his duty as a superhero whilst aiming to attend what is obviously a very important function on time. This sequence is hectic, exciting and fun. The film then slows down somewhat, and I thought my son might begin to fidget and become bored, but he didn't and the film soon livened up again. 'The Princess Bride' is finally getting its own Region 2 Special Edition DVD? Inconceivable! (Well, it's about time MGM got their act together. Let's face it, Region 1 have had more Special Editions released than there are R.O.U.Ss in the Fire Swamp.) This is a 2 disc set so let's hope we get all the extras the other region has had plus more to make up for our long wait!

These days I refuse to watch most CGI movies, mainly because they can run them off a mill as many times a year as they want. For me, Toy Story 2 represents the pinnacle of Computer based films. Touching, funny, and even better looking than its predecessor, this is easily one of the greats from Pixar. I say this now because with such average attempts over the recent years such as Antz, Madagascar, and Cars, the 90's proved that its better to wait 3/4 years for a film that's quality, rather than a glut of lame attempts to cash in. It sounds and looks even better than the video version of course (believe me, the colours are enhanced hundreds of times better than on the video) and should be bought with the original!

I loved this film almost as much as my children. It is without doubt the best kids film ever made. I loved Shrek and Small Soldiers , but and my kids say TOPY STORY is Number One.

I can see this getting the same plaudits (from those who lambasted it first time round, no doubt) in 20 years time as Gilliam's 'Brazil'. An utterly non-conformist, anti-hollywood, anti-film film. Watching it is like turning up at a crime scene. It doesn't make sense until you begin to sift and investigate the minutae. It makes YOU work very hard for any satisfaction and even then, when you think you have a hold of the thing, it will turn round and slap you between the eyes. Brilliantly flawed, simultaneously profound and completely farcical (there are moments of great comic writing here, brought to cringing life by a cast as diverse as the ideas on show). When "Toy Story" came out in the cinemas in 1995, it was seen as a revolutionary breakthrough in animation. This being the first computer generated animated film. So basically this film inspired the computer generated animated film hits "Shrek", "A Bug's Life", "Antz" and others including "The Incredibles" and "Cars". "Toy Story" has a really fun and moving plot line. Woody (Tom Hanks), is in charge of the toys in Andy's room. He's also Andy's favourite toy. Daughter had fun with this game, it was quite challenging at times, which is a good thing - they don't compete them so quickly!

Rarely does a motion picture capture an era with such nostalgia and reverence, as Woody Allen's "Radio Days". Set in New York City as World War 2 breaks; "Radio Days" captures the mood of the times through the music, drama, news, sports - and even the commercials that entertained and informed listeners in the days when radio ruled the media roost. Seen through the eyes of a young Jewish boy and his extended family in working class Brooklyn, the movie is really a series of well crafted vignettes, based on fact mixed with fiction. I like watching high school/ teen comedies but this one just didn't click with me.I found Alicia Silverstone's quips unfunny and even a little incomprehensible at times.Get a movie like Mean Girls instead - a high school movie that is funnier and that has a more interesting storyline.
