I loved the first 2 series of North and South. haven't read any of the books but maybe John Jakes should have stopped at the end of the civil war. This third season really does come across as a bit of an afterthought (don't be fooled by the picture of Swayze on the front, he's not in it). But if you want to see how the story turns out it's worth a look....
