Lester Burnham's (Spacey) life is reawaken when he meets Angela Hayes (Suvari).

This 1999 Oscar winning picture is regarded as Mendes' finest and with a fine realistic styled direction it is easy to see why.

Dramas can often be ruined when a can of clichés is opened but Mendes keeps a grounded direction all the way through and uses a variety of techniques to achieve the ultimate shocking effect. From a simple but effective sweeping shot of the suburban residency to the artistic and now infamous fantasy sequences, Mendes maintains the realism in the film's context.

Alan Ball's Oscar winning script is superb. The conciseness of the character's lives is easy and relaxing to watch which, given the complexity ... Read More:

Ghost Rider was 'THE' American comic I always bought (and wished I'd kept them). This is nothing like the comics apart from he 'changes' to the Ghost rider and back. What I remember is the fight to remain Human, hating becoming the demon and the demon, Zarathos, hating becoming Johnny Blaze. Zarathos having his own personality, two separate beings locked in one body always looking for control. Hope they don't do another one, shame.
I would like to see them make 'Luke Cage & Iron Fist', if done well, could be made it to a TV series.

This is one of those films that is far better than the reviews suggest. Essentially a comic book horror western, all of the cast, especially Cage, Elliott and Fonda give good performances in an enjoyable and none too serious romp. The effects are excellent and this blu-ray letterbox transfer looks and sounds stunning at 1080p (in a different league from the DVD). Extras are the same as those on the equivalent extended cut DVD and include a commentary and featurettes. At the time of writing this BD was going for the price of peanuts - well worth the small investment if you are prepared to go with the flow and enjoy it at face value. The disc is coded A-B-C.

Two hours of overacting and pretentious prattling.
He gets caught and escapes, gets caught and escapes. By the time he takes the poison you wish there was enough to go around to put the audience out of their ordeal...then it still goes on...
The acting and flow of the story is so bad and confusing that not even the exquisite cinematography makes it worth seeing this one through.

P2 does for car parks what Psycho did for showers. I was reluctant to watch it as the plot sounded pretty boring... but somehow, P2 turned out to be one of the tightest and most consistently thrilling horror films of the year.

By now, you'll probably know what it's about: Its Christmas time, and a lady (Rachel Nichols) is planning to leave work and drive to the annual family get-together. Everything takes a turn for the worst when her car won't start and she seeks help from the 'friendly' supervisor (Wes Bently). The tension begins to build...

She's trapped in the building. Nobody knows where she is. Her car won't start. The lights go out...

The whole point in me writing this review is to say: P2 is so much more than just `two people ... Read More:

Like many, I was expecting an entirely different movie from what was shown on the previews for Soul Survivors - but sadly, got something else. It was released to theatres (shockingly) in 2002. It's now 2008 and I'm still kind of stumped.

The movie has enough ingredients to make it a slasher/horror hit, but it's just too confusing - and mind twisting for it's own good. Don't go thinking I'm dumb. I do get the story, it's just....the way it was portrayed was, well, horrible. The movie has too many flashbacks and hinted twists that you end up racking your brain, thinking what the hell is going on. Now, I love a movie were I have to use my head, but this just takes the cake. They quickly ditched the "stalker" idea more than a quarter into the movie and focused more on the lead ... Read More:

Sam Jones thought he was going to make a film about Wilco recording their next album. Instead, he got a rather terrifying story about power struggles, corporate incompetence and a band defying nightmarish circumstances to emerge with a classic album and new contract.

For a start, Wilco drummer Ken Coomer was fired on the first day of shooting. Jones' camera doesn't actually record the incident, but it does capture the subsequent power struggle between main songwriter Jeff Tweedy and other main songwriter Jay Bennett. The dramatic high point of this story is a tense conversation in the control room between Tweedy and Bennett concerning an edit between two songs - a classic case of the conversation not being about what it ought to be about. It climaxes when the hunched and dogged ... Read More:
