To give this a low score is simple snobbery. This film is what it is and very watchable.

This show is funny end of, any reviewer who has given it less than 5 stars either has no sense of humour or a personal problem with the person that reccomended it to them. There certainly is a plot and plenty of character evolution, but like all classic comedy the relevance of this is secondary to making us laugh. We do not need ponder to the depths of character interaction in a sitcom, it doesn't have to be entirely believable, it just has to be funny.

It has to be said that of the 3 series of Arrested Development this is probably the most erratic in terms of storyline, however if you've read some of the other reviews you'll realise that towards the end of this series both cast and crew knew that this treasure of a show was coming to an abrupt, untimely end. This of course meant that loose ends that had been waiting to be tied up since the beginning, plus much newer story arcs needed to be resolved much quicker than the writers originally planned. Despite all these circumstances the quality of this series certainly doesn't pale compared to the 2 preceding series. This film is about a career criminal who decides to avenge himself by getting the son of a Judge arrested and put into a high security prison. To make sure that the rich lad gets punished he gets himself arrested just so that he can spend time in jail in the same cell. However, will he be able to watch the prison system chew and spit out an innocent man? 'Let's go to Prison' is billed as a comedy and in some parts it is funny. However, the tone is far too dark and uncomfortable for it to an enjoyable watch. It's like a slightly lighter 'Oz' with jokes about male rape, stabbings and drugs. I am major fan of the Disney Pixar movies and always eagerly await the next one. I do like this film but personally I don't find it as funny as movies like Toy Story 1 & 2 and The Incredibles. Having said that there are some great characters in this film and being an animal lover I think all the rats are adorable. Overall though I would give the film itself 4 out of 5. As this is a 2 disc special with the animated shorts on, the overall package is definately a 5 out of 5. I would definately recommend getting this package as the shorts are great to watch. Some you will have already seen before but most you probably won't. I especially liked the alien abduction short, I almost wet myself laughing at that one.
