Not just the finest xmas film of recent times, also it answers the 64,000 dollar question of each and all films ever made..is it near endlessly rewatchable, will it get me in the mood each time (for xmas that is), can it tick those two wondrous boxes, and viewers, it can.

To give this a low score is simple snobbery. This film is what it is and very watchable.

This film is funnier than I thought it would be, but is not quite one of Ferrells best. I really enjoyed the 70's vibe, which they captured perfectly, and loved Ferrell and the cast mugging for all they were worth. Yes the plot is formulaic, sometimes stupid, and Maura Tierney is criminally under-used,but the film has a lot of heart, laughs at itself, is feel-good, and has enough laugh out loud moments to justify a night in watching it.
The theme tune is fantastic, too........!!

DVD : Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy [2004]
Although billed as a film about a 1970s TV news team, in many ways this film is simply a load of very funny comic sketches joined together into the format of a film. The central plot is very light at best and is really just a vehicle for Will Ferrell's off-the-wall humour. Ferrell and the rest of the cast are all in their element delivering a mixture of satire and slap stick, with some very offbeat but hilarious moments, the news team spontaneously breaking out into an a capella rendition of "Afternoon Delight" being particularly memorable.

Some of the comedy is at times quite childish and a few jokes do fall flat, but there are so many other laugh out loud moments that you almost don't notice the more unfunny jokes.

This film is truly amazing. It may only appeal to people with a certain sense of humour, but I must be one of those people as I almost split my sides laughing. I was still randomly saying quotes from Zoolander about a month after I'd seen it!
As usual, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson make a brilliant partnership; they have a similar sense of humour so you can see that they are really enjoying making the film.
This may not be the classic, thoughtful and deep film that some people want to see but in my eyes it is the best film I have ever seen, and would be perfect for a fun night in or sleepover.

OK, so I may be alone in thinking this, but the obvious comparison for this movie is The Truman Show and yet, it's so much better than The Truman Show! Will Ferrell and Emma Thompson are excellent and convincing. The story resonates long after the film ends. The script and visuals are a treat. It's both thought-provoking and entertaining. It simply deserves to be seen.

its not as good as anchorman - I found this tiresome in places and not knowing much about the culture surrounding NASCAR racing - some of the stereotypes i might not have fully appreciated. I found mosat of the characters to be obnoxious and dimwitted - However, maybe that is the main joke of the film?

Anyway the characters were annoying and the only saving grace is that there are some funny moments - mostly centred around Ferrels drunken father figure and Sacha Bara Cohens french driver.

Cohens comic talents were not utilised to the best they could have been - the director seems to think the biggest joke they can get out of him is a ridiculously over the top french accent.

its a film that doesnt make the best of its comic leads ... Read More:

A comedy DVD dont' get eny funnier than this!. Will and the gang just had so much fun that by the end off the shoot, there was enough material to make a second fiture - not a secuel (comes out in 2009) but a second take on the epic jurney, of the number one news team, and there far out eskapades. This is the kind of DVD you watch with the boys, smoke some Green tobaki... and just laugh you're self's blue in the face. Right up there with "Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back", "Tenacious D - Complete Master Works", "Terror Firmer", and some of the John Waters stuff. This one makes Jim Carry look like a 2'end grader trying to impress his school-buddys, by pissing his pants...
What can i say? - I just love lamps.

DVD : Old School [2003]
Old School is advertised as a comedy and it is funny for the 90 minutes it runs and always has plenty of action and lively dialogue going on.And the idea of a bunch of people in their late thirties forming a club at a university is fairly original. These are nice guys who never grew up and the world is a brighter place because they didn't and your day will be brighter if you watch this film.

Max Bialystock (Nathan Lane) is a loser as a Broadway producer, but his accountant Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick) helps him come with up with a plan to produce the worst show ever on the Great White Way, one they know will close after only one performance, and then abscond with the money they raised. The show they're sure will bomb is called "Springtime for Hitler."

Based on Mel Brooks' Broadway musical that was based on his non-musical movie, this is pretty much a filmed stage play starring the play's two leads, Lane and Broderick. I like Nathan Lane, but this is too much of a good thing; he's too loud, too mincing, and too broad and is exhausting to watch. Broderick is full of wide-eyed, Ferris Bueller-charm and likeability, but he is tiresome after a while, too. ... Read More:
