Obviously designed for the younger generation, Step Up 2: The Streets is a well choreographed and fast paced movie that has less of the drama of the first, but a lot more of the message, 'It's not what you have, it's what you make of what you have'. The storyline was lacking a lot after the first, but I found the dancing and the rawness of this film a lot better than the first. It seems a lot less polished than the first also (Perhaps due to style of dance or new directing), but nethertheless it's a good film. ... I bought it for my girlfriend's son, who was delighted. The 'Fame' and 'Dirty Dancing' of its day, it would appear.

This ballet was a classic from the moment it premiered. The music cleverly re-interprets Bizet's original score updating it for a modern audience. The atmosphere is heavy and sultry; you really do feel that you are in now where's ville USA. Beautifully crafted and wringing every emotion out of you. The story is strong and the choreography is excellent (even if it does include some classic "Bourne" movements). If you have seen other Matthew Bourne Ballets you will know what to expect and enjoy. If you have not this is an excellent starting point.

This film isn't too bad. I hadn't read any reviews before watching the film on DVD and didn't really know what to expect. In the opening minutes, I found myself groaning 'oh no, here we go again, another one of these generic films'. I watched on and about half an hour later, the film suddenly suprised me. Quite gruesome, quite unexpected... A word of warning though, once the action gets going parts of the film do become a little predictable. The film could have done with having more tension built in and the characters weren't really likeable enough so I wasn't bothered if there were all killed off.
