There are not enough words to express how much I truly adore this movie, it's legendary! I could watch this every day and still not get bored, I'm not even going to wait until I have kids to try and justify me buying it.

This is an eclectic collection of love tales set in Paris , some slightly dull and some just brilliant . The whole movie is worth watching just because of the Coen brothers film with Steve Buscemi and the romance between a boy and a vampire.

There are a lot of familiar faces in the movie and the short films a generally well directed , just because is 18 of them , it feels a little short.

Highly underrated movie that should have won oscars for everything from the direction to the screenplay to the cinematography, to the camera work, to the editing to the haunting and dramatic music score. This film has it all and it all comes off superbly well even if it is a little predictable in places.

This is also Gene Hackman at his stupendous best. A stunning performance that is arguably one of the best of all time--to be honest I like him here even more than I do Brando in the Godfather. He steals every single scene and he knows it, putting a riveting performance in its own right by Willem Defoe almost but not quite in the shade. Hackman's secret could well be that he never gives the impression that he's acting, but that this is for ... Read More:

Platoon is a cinematic classic from Director Olive stone. And is supposedly his auto-biography of his experiences in Vietnam as a G.I. The characters in this film are based on real-soldiers he met in his 'platoon' in Vietnam.

I'm highly recommending the Special Edition for a feature documentary on the 'making of platoon' which is the best feature I've ever seen on a DVD to date. It shows how Oliver Stone put the cast through hell and back whilst shooting in the jungle. Plenty of accounts from Charlie Sheen, a young Johnny Depp, and Elijah Woods on how much they grew to hate Oliver Stone, which is exactly what he wanted!. A must see.

It is an interesting film, but not more than that. What does it shows? That the English were particularly sectarian during WW2 on the African front. Nothing new under the sun. Anyone who had a slightly different name or a slightly surprising or uncommon attitude was at once considered as a spy unworthy of any trust. This created myriads or even legions of misunderstandings and human errors along with cruelty, barbaric acts, violence, etc. The only interest of this film is the technical brilliance in the use of flashbacks that only happen in the head of this English patient who plays the loss of his memory to protect himself against his own name and his own ascendants. Yet his survival is not possible and the nurse who is looking after him is little by little led ... Read More:

AMERICAN PSYCHO is not your typical serial killer movie. If you are looking for a shlasher film full of blood, gore and guts, you'll be ultimately disappointed. If you are looking for a witty, satirical thriller, with Hollywood's currently most promising actor, this one'll be right up your alley. No one could have portrayed Bret Easton Ellis' serial killer better than Bale. No one could have directed this film better than Mary Harron. Make all Fridays and Maniacs look like crap.

Owen Wilson puts in the best turn in this. There are some funny scenes, but the dry humour doesn't always work that well and while Bill Murray is always good, this isn't him at his best, which is a shame.

Worth watching.

Sequel to xXx in which head of the NSA (National Security Agency) Samuel L. Jackson hires former and now incarcerated Navy Seal Ice Cube to be the next secret agent xXx (triple X) whose assignment is to foil a plot to assassinate the US president in a military coup d'état engineered from inside the US government. Ice Cube is efficient in the role played by Vin Diesel in the first xXx film and the action and fight sequences are good but this is standard action fare and you will have to suspend your disbelief at times.

If you are going to use such poor CGI why not just produce a cartoon? The film itself is pretty run of the mill but the fact that spiderman looks about as realistic as a computer game sprite circa 1983 sends this tumbling down the rubbish shoot. Spidey - you suck son!

You will know within five minutes if this movie is your taste. Nicholas Cage gives a great performance as a bad Elvis type dude, with Laura Dern as his young, hot lover. Her mother is a sack of trouble and on the way there are plenty of odd, inspired performances. This is an odd road movie, and there's a lot to recommend it.

I thought this film was great but it requires you to meet it a little more than halfway. If this is you, you'll love it. Willem Dafoe (and his hideous teeth) deserve special mention. Great stuff.
