I watched the whole of the original X Files when they were first on TV and loved the series. I have just purchased (and watched) the X Files movie and have to admit that it has re-kindled my love for this series. The film is as good, if not better than I expected and I suspect I will now start buying the whole TV series. So, if like me, you haven't watched the X Files for a few years, I can recommend this film. I loved it.

This is the first of only two Glenn Miller films (the other one being "Orchestra Wives") and as a result probably suffers from the studios reluctance to allow the Miller band to carry the film alone, without the "added attraction" of olympic skater, Sonia Henie. Despite the oil and water mix the resuling film is probably better than you might expect. Henie gives an engagingly naive performance in a simple story line, with some wonderful skating pyrotechnics thrown in for good measure, while the Miller band sequences are just about as good as it gets. The band started work on the picture on 24th March 1941 and finished on 3rd of May. Personel was unchanged from the previous November and this shows in the performance. The "togetherness" is breathtaking. ... Read More:

This is a great movie with great actors. Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington teamed together in a beautiful comedy... They both did a great job as actors, but Whitney singing gospel is just phenomenal. A great movie for your soul (because of the music)

This has been slated by some reviewers and each is entitled to their opinion. Mine is that this is a worthwhile addition to the X Files, no better than the best and no worse than the worst.

The series itself can't have every episode mind blowing even though the series is a true classic.

If you are an X files fan, then you need this if only because you are an X files fan.

First Earthstorm now Dark Storm what next?

I could not get through this movie without howls of laughter both from myself and my family.

Everything about this movie suggests low budget and a C movie. There is nothing to raise it even to a B.

Where can I start? Bad acting, silly story, cheap effects, clunky effects, low levels of plausibility.

This movie has got them all which will probably make it a cult classic for years to come. Alternatively, one could argue that this is the 50s pulp sci fi renaissance.

6.The Brady Bunch: The Complete Third Season (REGION 1) (NTSC) starring: Robert Reed, Florence Henderson, Ann B. Davis, Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb

It may be that Hollywood has made a musical with a more energetic, dynamic opening than Hollywood Hotel, but I haven't come across it. Right off the bat there's Benny Goodman and his orchestra, all dressed in white suits, each standing in a convertible, all being driven down a highway led by motorcycle cops to the St. Louis airport, and all playing loud and fast one of Richard Whiting's and Johnny Mercer's greatest songs. They're sending off to Hollywood the orchestra's saxophonist, Ronnie Bowers (Dick Powell), who has just won a ten-week contract in Tinsel Town. Without skipping a beat, Johnnie Davis, a mug-faced trumpet player, starts singing the lyrics, then Frances Langford picks up a chorus or two.

Hooray for Hollywood!
