Tired with Halloween Pumpkin King Jack Skellington finds a land called Christmas Town and plans to make the festivities very frightening.

Tim Burton's vivid imagination has made him a modern day great and this is a sparkling gem with an acute perception of the holidays.

Opening with a catchy song "This is Halloween", Henry Selick's picture sets the tone for an entertaining and interesting adventure starring a spiderlike central character

Jack Skellington is a wonderful creation, filled with many human emotions including hope and challenge and is easy to watch. Danny Elfman has pitched the songs to match Skellington perfectly, especially when he first sees Christmas Town "What's this?"

Vacation is an excellent film where the Griswolds are driving across the country to a theme park. There are many laughs along the way, from car crashes, dog deaths, family deaths, theiving and holding John Candy at Gun Point.
European Vacation is probably the weakest film in the series, and isn't as funny, but it does feature the Griswolds traveling across, Britain where they get into trouble at the B&B and at Stone Henge, France where they visit the Efle Tower, and Germany where Clark gets into a fight. Theres also an appearnce by Eric Idle in this film too.
Christmas Vaction is most likely the best, and is full of laughs from start to end. It's simply Hilarious!

I was being lazy when I chose to rent this DVD. I've decided to make a short cut and not to read the source novel (because anyone who's read Umberto Eco's wordy work will appreciate that it is a full time job in itself) but to watch the adaptation instead, and what a bitter disappointment it was. It's just a complete parody on "the Medieval" , Connery who is not one of my favourite actors in any event is just plain hideous and proves the point that he is not cut out for roles of this calibre. So, now I'd have to read the book after all just to see what I've missed. Moral: never make the short cuts!

I've seen this movie several times and it stills holds my attention throughout its duration. This is a good example of a film with average dialogue but excellent acting, directing and editing.Al Pacino plays a policeman who meets Ellen Barkin - a single mother who works in a shoe shop - by placing a lonely hearts advert in a newspaper.Pacino's paranoia in Sea Of Love is only matched by his love for Ellen Barkin who he sees as his way out of a mid-life crisis. This is a very positive film in which the police are portayed in a good light and are a force for good, even though they use some morally dubious tactics to try and catch a serial killer.

DVD : Prizzi's Honor [1985]
So many of the laughs in Prizzi's Honor come from the plot twists (most of them included in the film's trailer, conspicuous by its absence on this DVD) that it's best not to go into it knowing too much. The fact that I'd forgotten so many of them is perhaps why I enjoyed it so much more the second time around. It's a civilized entertainment - perhaps a little too civilized at times, although William Hickey's deathly white vampiric Don gives a whole new meaning to the phrase Cookie Monster - elegantly made and plotted, which wasn't so rare in 1985 but these days is a positive novelty. Jack Nicholson's hamming it up again, but not as much as usual as the luckless Mafia enforcer who meets the woman of his dreams only to discover she's ripped off the family. His comparative ...
