Wow!!....This film is truly a hidden gem.

I had no expectations when I bought this film and didn't know the story, but by the end of the film I looked at life a little differently.

The images on screen along with the soundtrack works to take you into this lads life, the way he looks at things around him is a eye opener. So many people go though life looking but not seeing what's around them.

The film will effect you; and at the end it haunted me for a couple of days after and to a point still does. Buy or borrow this film it is a must see film. Not a bockbuster but a film that will touch your soul.

This film is told from 8 people's point of view over the same time period. Its cleverly done, rewinding after each segment and switching views, each time adding a bit more story with twists and turns. The final person then cranks the action right up and brings the whole story to conclusion.

You seem to spend ages for the film to start as it keeps rewinding frequently at the beginning, but towards the end it does unfold much more of the story and adds in quite a bit of action.

Enjoyable if slow to start.

i was a big fan of Hulk, though i did realise that the Hulk looked exceptionally fake and the storytelling was very boring (even by Ang Lee's Standards). I was happy and worried about this Hulk Re-boot. I was happy that it would be more action oriented, but i was worried that they may end up losing the story because of it.
However, my worries were unfounded, as the movie was brilliant. Great characterization, Great Storytelling, Great action, and finally, The Hulk actually looked REAL this time (or as real as you could get a 10 foot monster to look). There was just the right mix of everything. They used the best storytelling devices from the TV show and combined that with the comic book. This, in the end created an immersive movie experience, which both comic and ... Read More:

Got this DVD frre with a Samsung BDP1500 bluray player so I didn't think it would be very good. How wrong, could I be. Kept me and my family enthralled with its twisting and turning plot. Great action sequences that will keep you on the end of your seat. Absolutely stunning in bluray.

De Niro makes a surprising move here into spy territory - not modern Bourne type stuff (despite the presence of Matt Damon) but more like an American John Le Carre type story, in its understated events and emphasis on character. It's a noble endeavor, at times wonderfully shot - however, it is ultimately too flawed to succeed as entertainment.
The story revolves around the creation of the CIA, seen through the eyes of Edward Wilson (a composite of several real life characters). It plays as a character driven story showing what can make a man choose a life of permanent paranoia and secrecy, and the impact that has on his life. In this way the atmosphere around the time of the new Agency's genesis is portrayed rather than a strict blow by blow account of how it came to be. ... Read More:

I remember at the time my girlfriend harping on about this film, saying it was the best thing ever, she said I would love it! I watched it and as a result lost all confidence in spielberg as a director and also dumped the girlfriend, I couldn't look at her the same way again after the AI experience.
The thing about this film, is that you don't really like any of the characters, the world is painted as being such a bleak and selfish place that I just couldn't force myself to enjoy watching the film and just wanted it to end. When the end finally comes, well it's true testament that spielberg has definitely lost the plot in recent years. I'm sure it reads much better in the written form but AI is one to avoid.

` A History of Violence' is about a family man named Tom Stall (Viggo Mortensen) who owns a diner in a small town in Indiana. Everything seems quiet and peaceful in his life until one day when two men come into his restaurant and threaten the staff and customers with a gun. Tom disarms the men and kills them both in defence, becoming a local hero in his town. Days later he is then approached by a man named Carl Fogarty (Ed Harris) who begins to ask him questions about his past, a different life in Philadelphia and starts to harass him and his family.

I love some of David Cronenberg's earlier films such as The Fly, Scanners and The Dead Zone, and A History of Violence is a great addition to these classics. The story is fairly slow going and does have a lot of focus on the ... Read More:

What a great movie!! I was quite amazed and I do not share the previous reviewers' views that this is a girlie or weeping movie.

Here a NY girl ( Renée Zellweger) who wants to make a big career suddenly finds herself back in her hometown where a family drama unfolds: Mum ( Meryl Streep) has cancer and slowly dies. The daughter is - through emotional blackmail of her father (William Hurt) forced to take care of Mum. However, she is daddy's girl, adores the great university professor and has no real connection with her mother who she regarded as the typical, a bit stupid and uninteresting mum who just takes care of the home. But the picture suddenly changes: the adored father turns out to be a mediocre professor and writer, egoistic and most of all very, very week. Mum however keeps ... Read More:

This is easily the best Jesus story I have seen.

The use of puppets and animation somehow enable a more real character of Jesus to be portrayed without the baggage of actors and sets. It is how I see he would really have related to people.

And of course the ending is superb.
