"Screams of the victim deaden his pain. The act of killing makes him feel intensely alive. What he feels next is not guilt but disappointment. It was not as wonderful as he'd hoped. Maybe next time it will be perfect." --Dr. Helen Hudson speaking on serial killers.

Copycat is a first-class psychological serial killer/diller/thriller nearly undone by a conventional slasher/thriller climax. The end works well enough, but once you've seen one jump-out-and-scare-us, spray-in-the-face, last-minute-save cliché you've seen them all. The only difference in the clichés is how close we get to the blade going in, the skull cap blasting off, and the last minute twist being irrelevant to the story.

What makes Copycat so superior ... Read More:

Stunning story and cast in this not really known about film that somehow fell through the net? Simple story about a mothers love for her daughter and how that love would give her the strength to deal with whatever comes along. Real tearjerking performance from likes of Bette Midler and John Goodman.

Okay, this is not a horror based on the Phantom of the Opera but there are some likeness in it. A young diva replacing another to play the lead role, becomes famous and has a admier who becomes deadly mad about her. Only this time, he kidnaps her, puts horrfing nails under her eyes and lets her watch him do murder to all the people she knew alongside her. Sure, it's old and the dubbing is poor but there are some terrifying moments in it. The murders are gruesome while playing upbeat 80s songs, it didn't make a lot of sense and when you find out who's the bad guy, it is badly let down. The ending also is pretty poor too but it's something different every now and then.

These are the things about the movie that I would consider worthwhile:

1. Erika Eleniak - not only does she look amazing, she also seems to be nice to a fault. It is hard not to fall a little bit in love with her, not only because of who she is personally, but also because she adds to the story in such a convincing and meaningful way. It is hard not to wish she was the girl next door - just imagine that!! ;-)

2. The movie is quite funny.

3. It is a story about right and wrong, redemption, heart, love - stuff like that, and it tells the story in a really good way, and the actors all support that story in a good good way.

4. It is just a little pearl of a movie, if a little rough-hewn. The story inside the ... Read More:

DVD : Obsession [1976]
Cliff Robertson's Obsession is for Genevieve Bujold's exact double of his kidnapped and murdered wife of twenty years earlier, but the title could just as easily stand for director Brian De Palma's over-fondness for Hitchcock and Paul Schrader's penchant for remaking The Searchers (complete with "Will he kill her/Will he kiss her?" ending). It's great fun as long as you haven't seen Vertigo - and when this was released in 1976, Hitchcock's masterpiece had been out of distribution for nearly two decades - but the similarities in both style and content become very apparent of you have. At one point they were even more pronounced with an unfilmed `fourth act' that saw Robertson descending further into further madness.

Nonetheless, the director's ... Read More:

Being a fan of the two Corey's I decided to collect their movies, all of which I like.

When I first watched Dream a Little Dream I was confused, although I liked the film I thought it was strange the way everything happened so quickly in each scene.

But then, the second time I watched it I absolutely loved it. Quite rightly, it is one of those films that you always like more the second time round. If your a fan of 80's movies then you're sure to like this one. 5/5.

I had some expectetions on this movie from Customer reviews, however they have been turned down after watching it. Put it simply, this movie does not make much sense. There is little path, nor message. I would be curious to find out if these exist in the original novel, but I think I will not bother. Actors play well, but it is like they did not play togheter, they were reharsing on their own.
The only good point for me, an European who has lived in the USA countryside for a while, is that the movie conveys a certain "good old time" feel.

This is a happy, sad, funny, thoughtful film, with good looking men and a very good looking red convertible Beetle! Staring Mark Harman, Jodie Foster with early performances from Helen Hunt and William McNamara. Perfect for a rainy Sunday afternoon in front of the televison.

While I think this film was okay in and of itself, it's probably more suited to die-hard skiers. I bought it for two reasons: I enjoy films based around the less-well-publicised sports -- i.e. anything that's not football (normal), football (American), rugby, basketball, hockey, baseball, cricket, car-racing, golf, and all those other "big business" sports -- and I've been a fan of Paul Gross since I first saw "Due South." As has been pointed out in the other reviews, there is some superb skiing footage. That alone is worth the five quid. As for the rest, well, I also recommend renting this film first to see if it's to your taste.
