Edward (Depp), born with scissors for hands, is brought into the local village and becomes the talk of the town.

God bless Tim Burton. Who in their right minds would take a fairy tale and include a man with scissors for hands? Burton's sheer strangeness continues after his beautiful Beetlejuice and Batman in this darkly colourful fantasy drama and throws the fairytale convention out of the window. Burton is an inspiration to the film industry, a man who does everything differently and there is no one else out there like him, and his finally cut creation, inspired by one of his own drawings, is a sentimental spark in his collection, his most touching to date.

For those fairytale lovers out there don't worry. This 1990 ... Read More:

Young married couple Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) are staying home for their vacation. In an effort to avoid driving over a cute mutt, they, car and all plunge over a bridge. The next thing they know is that they are home. However something is a tad strange. Yep soon they find they are the recently deceased. How will they cope with the situation and where can they find help whim strange people purchase and intend to occupy the house?

The story takes some intriguing turns. And the musing instead of being a background mood helper is actually as important as the other characters in the story. "Day-o, he say day-ay-ay-o."

This film is an excellent candidate for Blu-ray. The Blu-ray version also ... Read More:

Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name!... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .... ... ... ... ... .... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .... ... ... ... ... .... ... After being caught dancing naked in the woods, Abigail Williams hatches a plan with the other girls in the village. Abigail claims that she has been fighting to save her own soul, as she is surrounded by people who worship the devil. Instead of dismissing these claims as foolish ramblings of a young girl, the town elders encourage her hysteria. Accusations fuelled by provincial politics, greed, spite, paranoia, and fear become commonplace. ... Read More:

Hollywood loves Dick, and that's a fact. Philip K. Dick, that is: whenever the powers that be require a sound sci-fi brain scratcher, they turn to the pages of special K. The man behind Total Recall, Minority Report and the more than slightly less impressive Paycheck, Phil is the go-to guy for short tales of paranoia, future dystopia and drug abuse, with A Scanner Darkly representing only his second full novel to be adapted into a movie (the first being "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?" which resulted in the mighty Blade Runner). At the helm is another Dick, Richard Linklater, one of the slipperiest directors working today, a man who simply refuses to be pigeonholed, but who is as yet unproven in the sci-fi genre.

Finally, Dick gets a film worthy of his talent. ... Read More:

Having seen quite a few of Adam Sandler's films, I was disappointed by this one. For me it was lots of nonsense scenes stuck together (e.g. his frostbitten foot being battered - what was that about?, or assulting people in a restaurant for no clear reason, or assulting a mugger lying down on a pavement etc etc). Even the romance theme didn't stack up and left me cold. I much preferred Happy Gilmore or Big Daddy. Buy for the kids only.

First things first - watch it at all costs if only for a young Kirsten Dunst. I can't imagine a better Amy and whenever I go back to the book I always imagine her in the part. Full of life, adorable and hilarious. There's a bit I just love, where Jo says "Stop sulking, Amy, you look like a pigeon", and Amy leans back, rolls her eyes and gives a sulky couple of 'coo's. Sadly, she gets cut two thirds of the way through for a 'grown-up' Amy, who is all right but nothing to write home about.

I wanted to like it, but the film as a whole is pretty flawed. The pace is monotonous and some of the best scenes of the book are cut and replaced with dull dialogue. Because the film is of both Little Women books, a lot of character development is cut and so the first time old Mr. Laurence ... Read More:

This blu-ray transfer is the collectors edition that was recently released on DVD and features the same 16:9 transfer and the same extras. If you are a fan of the movie, then I can only add here that the HD transfer is another gear or two up from the DVD and looks great at 1080p for a film of its age that was shot using some unorthodox old fashioned techniques and a lot of improvisation in places, as revealed in a fascinating feature amongst the plentiful extras, which includes a directors commentary, deleted scenes, a fascinating making of etc (including Gary Oldman throwing a strop and walking off set at one point - great fun!). It wasn't shot digitally so don't expect blu-ray miracles but its plenty good enough and a terrific film. The disc is coded A-B-C.

This film is about a disfunctional family consisting of rachel(cher) the mother, charlotte(Winona Ryder) the 15 year old daughter who seeing her mum go through dozens of boyfriends is attempting to lead a good christian life and little Kate(Christina Ricci) who has a talent in swimming, just like her father who her mum never caught the name of!
The family end up moving to a new state everytime rachel ends a relationship, which seems to be alot, we see them as they leave their home and head for boston. Once there we see them struggle to become more fuctional and settle down, its got a bit of everything in this film, but best of all is the way this film leaves you feeling, after all the ups and downs they really are just like everyone else.I should also mention how great Winona Ryder is in this ...
