I watched this film 'cold', without looking at trailers and reading reviews or 'the book'. So her is my lasting impression.

The characters were excellent and the story moved through action sequences and general dialogue without a pre-set pattern so, in short, the viewer could be shocked at any moment. This was used to great effect in many scenes, to the benefit of the storyline, until the 'end' of the film.

However, after watching almost everything there was to see, then getting ready for some sort of finale to answer a whole list of questions and discover the, 'who', 'what', 'where', 'when', 'why' of the whole film, we are suddenly greeted with the 'end credits'.

My wife and I (Not Mr Meldrew) could ... Read More:

This film is funnier than I thought it would be, but is not quite one of Ferrells best. I really enjoyed the 70's vibe, which they captured perfectly, and loved Ferrell and the cast mugging for all they were worth. Yes the plot is formulaic, sometimes stupid, and Maura Tierney is criminally under-used,but the film has a lot of heart, laughs at itself, is feel-good, and has enough laugh out loud moments to justify a night in watching it.
The theme tune is fantastic, too........!!

Hollywood loves Dick, and that's a fact. Philip K. Dick, that is: whenever the powers that be require a sound sci-fi brain scratcher, they turn to the pages of special K. The man behind Total Recall, Minority Report and the more than slightly less impressive Paycheck, Phil is the go-to guy for short tales of paranoia, future dystopia and drug abuse, with A Scanner Darkly representing only his second full novel to be adapted into a movie (the first being "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?" which resulted in the mighty Blade Runner). At the helm is another Dick, Richard Linklater, one of the slipperiest directors working today, a man who simply refuses to be pigeonholed, but who is as yet unproven in the sci-fi genre.

Finally, Dick gets a ... Read More:

The "Thin red line" is film as it should be made, as an art form rather than entertanment. Whoever did the cinematography for this film is a pure genius as it is truly mesmerizing. Id recommend this film to anyone who actually likes good films and wants to get away from the tripe that is currently being made by the bucket load. Although after watching this film it does make you wonder why dont we have more films like this being made on a regualr basis???

I absolutely love Sandler and Nickolson but when they work together they make a fantastic double act!
I have never laughed so much in my life as I did during some of the scenes in this film. It is very well written with some hysterical moments of pure comedy.
I recommend this to any Sandler fan, it is an enjoyable watch wit some witty characters.

What do you get if you mix together a cliched idea, a mismatched cast and a poor director? Unfortunately the result is Natural Born Killers, an awkward blip in cinema history. Unashamedly ripping off the classic story of Bonnie and Clyde the film follows the rise and fall of the "charasmatic" serial killers awkwardly portrayed by failed popstar Juliette Lewis and "star" of cheers Woody Harrelson. Far from being a terrifying insight like Henry portrait of a serial killer this storyline is a spectacular flop. The characters are impossible to like and re-enforce the worst stereotypes about working class Americans. Failed homages to films are obvious, out of place and pretentious. The attempt to replicate Film Noir in an early scene only serves to remind the viewer that they could ... Read More:

The hallmarks of Robert Altman's style are here, including a fantastic ensemble cast, overlapping dialogue, a camera that wanders around the action (though that is the wrong word: this film contains virtually no action in the conventional sense of the word) and actors.

But this is a far gentler, nostalgic, elegaic film than, say, MASH, Nashville, Short Cuts or, for that matter, any of his other films. Maybe this is because Altman had "mellowed" by the time he made what was to be his last film, but given the rest of his career this seems unlikely. A more likely influence is the bone dry wit of his main collaborator Garrison keillor, upon whose writings and radio broadcasts the film his based. I would never have thought of them as natural collaborators, but it works perfectly well. Like ... Read More:
