One of the best drama's i've seen for a while, I have currently been hooked on "THE WIRE" which is probably the best show ever made. Damages starts slowly and the character "Ellen" played by Rose Byrne seems an unlikely heroin. But as time passes she becomes all you want from a hero in a series. Glen Close definitly steels the show with a outstanding on screen display, you can't decide wheather you love or hate her.
I can't wait for Season 2 which is currently being filmed. Ted "cheers" Danson also plays a blinder as a Big Bussiness Fat Cat who although shows us how far he will go to cement his legacy he still has a concience.
If you watch it you will love it,If you choose not to watch it you will miss out on what Modern T.V shows ... Read More:

For some reason this is probably my least favourite season but nevertheless it is still absolutely fantastic. There are some epic moments and episodes here that i would consider my absolute favourites but something just relegates it below the others, i don't know what it is, maybe the bad guy isn't up scratch, either way saying this is my least favourite is hardly an insult.

Top stuff and Jacks rawest ever moment is in this series.

Fantastic. This film has plenty of everything you might want in this area. It's great entertainment, has the tang of reality plus a good deal of violence, domestic aggro and an interesting take on mob life.

It also has Al Pacino, Johnny Depp and Michael Madsen putting in top performances, and that can't be a bad thing. Very, very good movie.

Anthony Hopkins really makes this film worthwhile. Without his excellent performance this would no doubt have turned into a mess like "HANNIBAL RISING". The entire hype about extreme violence was totally bogus HANNIBAL relies more on the character of the serial killer than on gore FX (although there are some nasty FX indeed). The reason why this is BETTER than SILENCE OF THE LAMBS is because Hopkins gets more screen time. He is a brilliant actor. Thank God they good an good director here as well.

Denzel Washington plays an officer in charge of a tank brigade during the war. The unit he commands is involved in a friendly fire accident that kills one of his own men. After the war he tries to take responsibility for his part in the accident, but his superiors won't allow him to.
Also in the movie Denzel Washington's character seems to have developed drinking problems and other family problems due to his guilt. Whether or not he is actually guilty of anything or not he is consumed by his guilt and states more than once that he just wants to get this investigation right. It is almost as if he feels he can get rid of his guilt by handling this properly.
The character who gets killed is Meg Ryan who doesn't share any screen time with Denzel. Also featured are Matt Damon ... Read More:

I thought this film was great as a film. Compared to the book? Not so good. If you enjoy the book then you will probably not enjoy the film as much. It does follow the book in some ways but the ending is completely different and in my opinion not as good.
The performance Anthony Hopkins puts in as Hannibal Lecter is fantastic as always and although Julianne Moore plays the part of Clarice Starling well I think it would have been better to use Jodie Foster.
If you can watch it as just a film without comparing it to the books then I would highly recommend it.

I owned this film on laserdisc - who remembers that format? - when it was first released. I thought it to be one of Ridley Scott's least interesting films - more or less an inferior retread of Dead Poets Society, in the vein of the equally unoriginal Dangerous Minds and Scent Of A Woman. There is a bit of eye-candy in the experience, though; both the landscape and the comely boys are rather easy on the eyes. And Ridley Scott knows how to compose his shots. So far, so average.

This DVD version of the film, however, is a cropped print of the original 2,35:1 original. My original laserdisc version offered less resolution, but the picture was immensely better. The DVD version is cropped down to about 1,85:1, i.e. standard 16:9, and it feels claustrophobic - and it's not supposed to. Avoid ... Read More:

I won't take 16 lines to say that John Travolta is an "ambulance chaser" and takes civil cases where settlement is virtually guaranteed but suddenly has to take one - or look bad - where the outcome is uncertain and with his colleagues puts everything they own in danger. The case involves pollution from a tannery and among the victims are several children.Travolta declines offers and gets greedy and Robert Duvall representing the defendants who have virtually unlimited funds, shows Travolta how to do it properly.William H Macy,John Lithgow and Dan hedaya provide good support. A sound film based on a true story.

After watching the series on T.V, I rushed out to order a copy of Joesph Wambaughs book on which it is based. Creepy, and at times almost spine-chilling as you know this is based on a true story. One of the investigating officers on the case made the comment about Bill Bradfield being "A scheme within a scheme" he hit the nail on the head. I wont spoil it, It is a must-watch!
