Not just the finest xmas film of recent times, also it answers the 64,000 dollar question of each and all films ever made..is it near endlessly rewatchable, will it get me in the mood each time (for xmas that is), can it tick those two wondrous boxes, and viewers, it can.

I made the mistake of actually buying this dvd. Whilst the beginning was good, there was an expectation of something drastic happening in the storyline and it didnt. I think M Night is losing the plot! Sixth Sense was fantastic, however this film kept you engrossed up to a certain point, then it ended to my sheer disapointment. You would expect something to happen in a film called The Happening or even for the lead role to do something a bit more than stare into space for 70% of the film! Massive dissapointment and waste of money. Just watch it on telly when it comes out, but dont waste your good money on this dvd when there are many better films out there!

Watched this on a rainy Sunday afternoon with my six year old. Next rainy Sunday afternoon I might watch something a bit more upbeat. Schindlers List perhaps!

This film is fantastic. It is beautifully shot and I was utterly captivated for the whole two and half hours. A lot of criticsm has been levelled at this film for being overly long and very slow. I don't entirely disagree. It IS long and it doesn't move at a great pace, but then does every film have to do that to make it good? No. This came out at the same time to 3.10 To Yuma, that film is a thrill ride from start to finish, but in twenty years time I know which one will be held up as the classic. The performances by Pitt, Affleck and Rockwell are outstanding, the narrator (whoever it may be?) suits the feel of the film brilliantly by speaking with a rather world weary inflection in his voice. The cinematography is second to none. In fact I like this film ... Read More:

Anyone who is a fan of the timeless, majestic, Frank L.Baum classic 'The Wizard of Oz' should see this. Where the wonderful Musical 'Wicked' only undermines the positive feelings we have for 'Oz' - Tin man re-inforces just how good the original 70 year old (?) Classic film is. This remake combines disappointingly poor direction from Englishman Nick Willing, who seems completely divorced from the original story; an appaling script from Sickle & Mitchell (may namesake!); and a completely cardboard lead from Zooey Deschanel supported by a convincingly awful Allan Cumming - who proves once and for all his Tony's are about being in the right place at the right time. He is a cringingly awful half attempt at a character actor, who makes 'Karaoke' seem justified ... Read More:

Atrocious. If you have an IQ in positive territory you don't need to watch this.

I'm not sure what to make of the director... I loved the Sixth Sense and it seems that everything he has made since has struggled to live up to that benchmark. Knowing this, I tried to approach the film with an open mind.

This is another "good" faery tale from him, but no sensation. There are moments when the acting slips from the tongue-in-cheek to simply poor, and the plot/pacing would have been more suited to a TV series. However, if you approach without preconceptions, you may find yourself enjoying it's slow-burning oddness - though having paid a shade under £20, I have been left underwhelmed.

... that I was alive then. I love all the music in the movie and it feels very real in a unbelievable and fantastic rock and roll world.

Jason Lee is superb (as is everyone in this rich and talented cast) and the band Stillwater are so good you wish they had released a record themselves (since they did play the music and sing in the movie)

If you have somehow passed this movie over before or dont even like this music, the heart and relationships in the movie will make up for that.

This movie warrants many MANY viewings and gets better with each one.

The idea behind this movie was excellent, and for the first 15 minutes I thought this would be a great movie. However, the film actually gets boring. There's no real reason given for the problems and a very, very strange sub-plot between the two main actors, for which you can only think 'so what'.

Real shame, was looking forward to this, but a huge disappointment and not worth buying.

This is simply one of the best films I have ever seen. As someone that grew up in the 70s, this brings back so many memories and to see it in all of its Blue-Ray glory is amazing! True, it's missing some of the extras from the original 2-disc relaease. However, for anybody that loves music the loss is easily made up for by the true HD sound and picture quality. A solid purchase.
