I bought this film not expecting too much, maybe another boring gangster flick like Essex boys, man was i wrong. From start to finish this film had me hooked. The violence and fighting is constant, but more importantly its believable. Based on a true story it charts one mans life from his early days as a football hooligan to one of Englands most feared and respected figures in the Essex criminal underworld. For fans of gangster movies, British movies, films with loads of fighting. or just good films. This is a must see must buy 10/10

I was hoping for a good British gangster movie but this isn't. A lot of people like Sean Bean but I always got the impression it was somebody acting. The driver was well played and, as usual, the film went up a couple of notches when Tom Wilkinson appeared. As well as the acting the poor script let the film down.

'Rise of the Footsoldier' is a run of the mill British gangster flick that is interesting enough until about three quarters of the way through. It gets pretty tedious towards the end.

Wow, I brought the series on a whim - I used to watch it as a kid and enjoyed it then, but watching it so many years later I didn't realise how good it was. As previously mentioned it had a good mixture of black humour and gritty realism. The only offputting thing about the DVD is where the ad breaks were, there is a pause which can often last up to a minute. It probably could have been put together better and some extras wouldn't go amiss, but the series itself was excellent.

..but also not a reference title. I had high expectations in "Cliffhanger". Being one of my fave movies, especially a great work from acclaimed director Renny Harlin, this blu ray release does not hold up with my hopes, but does not dissapoint either. The good news: the newly remastered picture and the overall transfer look definetly better than the DVD version. The bad news: It does not really give a thrill while watching the picture quality. Tough some scenes look pretty clear and sharp, and even occasionally touch the quality blu ray stands for, the all-in-all picture throughout the movie appears to be a bit un-sharp, somewhat with a loss of crispy clear pictures. The cover looks horrible, the trailers were poor but the finished film is great, with decent acting, FX, Story this film is a great addition to Sylvester Stallone's Movie Career.
