Having just watched this film for the first time, I think a good way to describe it is to compare it to a gig. To start off there are two pretty irrelevant stories by two unknown directors which both leave you thinking 'what's this all about?', kind of like the support act. But they do set the scene for the second half of the movie, showing that Roth as the bellhop is having a real bizarre night. Then the headliners come in, Rodriguez and Tarantino, both producing hugely entertaining and enjoyable short stories which make you really pleased you watched the film. The performances by Roth, Tarantino and Jennifer Beals also help the job... definitely worth watching!!

With a title taken from a Nick Drake song and a soundtrack by Sonic Youth, this film will attract attention from a certain type of music lover. In fact, the tone of the film is more similar to a piece of music than your usual film. An extremely emotionally involving tale of a music jornalist and a young fledgling rock singer brought together through shared trauma. This film is anything but predictable and instead deals with the issue of rape and the resulting frustrated memories with sensitivity and intelligence. A real one off, recommended if you want something different.

As one of the homegirls says "We girls need new skills cause by the time our boys are 21, they're either in prison, disabled or dead. the film focuses mainly on Sad Girl and Mousie, and the conflict that arises when they both become pregnant by the same boy. The films structure is a bit patchy with al the different sections, each viewed from a different character's point of view, not really coming together to form a coherent whole. However the film does paint a very interesting picture of what life is for these girl gangs - and features real life gang memebers in several important roles. Better than Little ... Read More:
