True Comic Genius Indeed. Wilder & Pryor truly brought out the best in one another, and with "See No evil..." this is no exception.

"tis funny how natural comedy could be produced from life's most mundane moments!

Certainly one of my favourite "Pryor, Wilder" flicks!

You have to watch this several times to see how you are being set-up constantly from the first. Lauren intends to play Hamlet and Sandy just wants to keep her phone from being disconnected. They converge at an acting class with the famous Stanislav Korzenowski. They independently luck out and take on Michael (Peter Coyote) as a lover. After his untimely demise, Sandy and Lauren meet accidentally in the morgue. The only part of the body that is recognizable is his nether regions. Identification is no small thing. Upon closer examination they come to the conclusion that it is way too small and therefore Michael must be alive. Their searches for Michael take them to exotic locations and unique situations. Well what have we here? What we have is a great Sunday afternoon (or evening) movie entertainment. The plot is a simple one...villains on a train versus the good guys on the same train.
A strong touch of `Narrow Margin' here and also think of Cannonball Run, Dukes of Hazzard and the
Beverly Hillbillies! Maybe also Tough Guys. It's that kind of film. Having said that, this kind of thing is what the Yanks do best...they have the cash, the resources and above all the room. This is not a thriller to be taken seriously....except perhaps for the dialogue...try to follow this closely...its pretty sharp in places...don't cut yourself! There are some great scenes to be had in this film (it was up for awards after all) especially the finale ... Read More:

This is a musical from 1972.
It is therefore amazing how much I like this film.
It has a good enjoyable story and it made me think.

Sophia Loren, even as a scruffy barmaid looks gorgeous, and Peter O'toole is ... Peter O'Toole. There are some smaller parts for other well known stars (like Brian Blessed). It is a very colourful and imaginative film, and the fact that it is a musical, doesn't mean that it lacks in meaning.

What I liked especially about it, is it's layeredness.
The story starts with Cervantes (O'Toole) being picked up and thrown into jail, to await the inquisition. In jail he (and his side-kick) needs to defend himself against the other detainees. He does this by telling and enacting his story of ... Read More:

For those that are put off by the fact that this is a baseball film I would like to make one thing clear: I am not a baseball fan at all, I have watched half a game in my life and I did not enjoy it.

This film is about the life of Herman Edward (Babe) Ruth. The film covers the boy's sad life in an orphanage being brought up by Priests after his mother dies and his father doesn't want anything to do with him. After growing up in the orphanage he is then noticed by a scout at the Baltimore Oriels and thus began his illustrious baseball career.

The film then goes on to show his life off the park. His trades, his lifestyle, his lovers, relationships with other players etc. This is an incredibly well written and acted film. It shows ... Read More:

This is one of the funniest films I've ever seen on TV. Walter Matthau is extraordinary - three roles and all played completely differently. But not available except in Region 1 (US format). I would love to get my kids to watch this but need a Region 2 DVD. Same is true of 'What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?' - also a very funny film. Someone seize the business opportunity and release these great an untypical American films on a format we can watch please!
