I was lucky enough to catch this series when it was screened on tv, so I was delighted to find the box set for sale on Amazon. I was really disappointed that the show only ran for two series and then promptly came to an end as it was such a fantastic show. Each episode was fantastically written and the two main characters; Alison (played by Lesley Sharp) and Robert (played by Andrew Lincoln) went really well together. Each in their own way troubled by their past, they came together through Robert's interest in Alison's psychic abilities and throughout both series are a comfort to each other at points. They seem an unlikely duo to be friends, her a troubled psychic, him a cynical psychologist with a firm belief there is no such thing as ghosts ... Read More:

DVD : Down to Earth Double Box Set
This is a brilliant series, superbly acted by all who appear in it and with a good music soundtrack to accompany it. I am only sorry that the BBC, having aired a second series, starring Pauline Quirk, Warren Clarke, Ellie Beaven, Toby Ross-Bryant and Alexandra Stone, have not thought to put that on video for people to purchase. Subsequent series of Down to Earth on television, starring Angela Griffin are not nearly as good as the first two series and even the location of filming seems to have changed drastically from mid Devon to South Devon. Also, it seems a shame that absolutely none of the people who appeared in the first two series are ever mentioned or appear in the current series. What happened to Mack, to Bill and to Lindsay and her brother, also ... Read More:

A man is killed by a truck on a motorway and at first everyone is saying that the dead man, Pat FISHER was clearly suffering some sort of mental breakdown.

Even the local police think that it nothing more than a terrible tragedy but Detective Tom Monroe (Robert Carlyle, The Full Monty) is not so sure that Pat's death is so cut and dried, especially when he finds newspaper clippings, some old school photos including a group photo taken in 1976 where one of the children's face is blurred and no one can remember who he/she is, not even one of the teachers who taught at the school.

Monroe soon discovers that there are other mysterious deaths among the children in the school photo he he finds in Pat's belongings and that his old friend's ... Read More:

Poirot Collector's Set, Vol. 7 [1989] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

This was as superb as The ABC Murders as filmed in 1992 . Nick Dear's script laid the basis for a faithful adaptation as there where no significant deviations from the book in question . In short it was a dark menacing tale that kept the viewer on the edge of their seat . The casting has been inspired as Zoe Wanamaker has settled brilliantly into the role as the batty author Mrs Oliver and thus provides the kind of comedic relief that Hugh Fraser often supplied as Captain Hastings . Mr Yelland is first rate as George the valet who serves the drinks as deftly as Miss Lemon in her prime and Richard Hope does really well as a Japp style investigating officer who is dogged , persistent and honest ...
