Boston Legal is an excellent series which has many fine characters and stories. there however a couple of down points with this particular season. First Denny, there are a couple of times that he steps over the bounds from being humourously horny to lechorous, it's noticeable and you do feel like yuk!!! The second is the amount of political sniping and commentary which turns up especially oft used comments like "This Government" mind you Denny running for a presidential candidate was pure gold.

Apart from that this is a really fun series which at times makes you laugh out loud. Whilst it isn't as good as the first three seasons it does have some truly memorable moments and some excellent guest stars. As always the various speeches ... Read More:

I have not felt the need to review an amazon item before, but I'm choosing the West Wing to break my duck.

The West Wing is the best thing on television by some distance. It can be extremely funny, but it handles pathos better than any show I have seen. The acting is consistently superb and the fast-paced intelligent script writing is what makes the show so unique.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Season 4 of The West Wing is incredibly good. The writing is as sharp as ever and the characters are as likeable as ever. This season saw the departure of Rob Lowe but this did not harm the show in any way. There are some great cameos in this one notably from Matthew Perry and Christian Slater. The last few episodes are as good as anything you'll see in any TV show. Brilliantly written and perfectly acted, season 4 is a must see.

You can take it from me - five stars are not enough when it comes to rating the West Wing. This series is head and shoulders above any other drama on TV. I have all of the DVD's released so far and I am anxiously waiting for Season 5 (By the way - does anyone know when it will be released?)

From the incredible writing to the exceptional performances by the actors, this show is a treat for the senses. It will have you laughing and crying and I promise you it is never dull. Some of the storylines have been almost prophetic and all have been filled with a quality unmatched by any other dramatic series.

If you have never seen this show - buy the DVD anyway. You will not be disappointed!

DVD : Miracles: The Complete Series [2004] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
'Miracles' is a little gem of a series. It only ran for 13 episodes before cancellation in the US, but it looks amazing, the quality of the episodes is very high, and the final episode ties up enough ends that, although you'll be left wanting more, it isn't exactly a cliffhanger, and it isn't going to keep you wondering unbearably what-happened-next forever. The pilot episode on its own is a haunting piece of filming worth the price of the box set.

The series treads similar ground to 'Sea of Souls' in the UK, focusing on the investigations into the paranormal of Paul Callan, disenchanted former miracles-investigator for the Church, parapsychology academic Alva Keel, and ex-cop Evelyn Santos. The three leads are great, compelling characters, ... Read More:

DVD : The West Wing - Season 1 Part 2
This is an example of TV at it's very best.
The quality of scrip, direction, acting and production can not be bettered. The ensemble cast are excellent. They play the parts of their characters so well that you forget they are acting. Martin Sheen would surely be elected UK President if he even decided to stand for the post.
One small cirtisism and it is only a small point, but some of the 'fringe' characters do disappear from the story lines, without explaination of the course of the series generally. This seems to be more as a result of the contract problems of various actors rather than for consious plot led reasons.

If you only buy two DVD's this year buy this and Part1, or better still get the Full season pack now available.

Boston Legal Series One & Two

"Boston Legal" is that rare American show that is both intelligent and original. The result is a completely compelling and engrossing "tele-visual feast".

The almost magical chemistry between Shatner and Spader is remarkable to behold. This is a casting coup if there ever was one. Their relationship is beautifully played and completely life affirming. It is so good to see William Shatner being given the chance to perform in a part that demands of his talent. He has always been an extraordinary showman and it is a crime that it has taken so long to acknowledge just how good he is.
Spader has a charm and perverseness as an actor that is hard to quantify. He has such allure and grace. His delivery of such very complicated and ... Read More:
