I expect that if your buying this you'll know what its about so I'll review on the quality of the image if I may. Some films, especially older ones have a poor quality transfer onto DVD, though not this one. Colours and detail are first class, offering up a bright colourful image devoid of any nasties (blocking etc. If you've seen DVDs of the orignial Star Wars the picture quality is on a par with them.

Always wanted to buy this but had second thoughts about the price,bought this along with The Prestige and Equilibrium as part of the 3 for 10 offer. Speedy delivery and great value for money!

This is great stuff, hugely good fun and absorbing from the get go. The script and performances are great (check out Edwin Torres' books Carlito's Way and After Hours - both the basis for this and stunning reading) and the film delivers in every way. Some fine action and pretty much iconic scenes and you have a real winner.

Brian DePalma is always an interesting filmmaker. Even though he borrows bits and pieces from other famous films and filmmakers (most noteably Hitchcock) there is something strangely compelling about most of his films, even when they aren't actually that good. The Untouchables has the same issues, but its done with such style, and with significant contributions from some film greats that in the end DePalma made a classic. Now that Sean Connery has retired, and twenty years have past since this film, its easy to forget just what a magnetic screen presence he had. Cruise again on another self funded pile of rubbish making out he can pretend as well as professional actors can. He can't, and yet again the bigness of face on the cover shows that he is the indestructable hero of the film. This is as silly as it gets, ruining a perfectly crap TV series and making it worse with this stunted half-wit bad actor nutjob playing the hero. Genuine actors must talk behind his back about his lack of skill. He should retire now to spare the embarrassment of not winning any decent awards for his version of pretending. A tragically bad film peppered with cheapness of script, camerawork and acting. Don't waste your time on this.
