Simply put, this is a fun movie to watch and it never gets old. A middle aged storyline with modern twists. Lots of emotion and although it's cheap it isnt one of those rubishy knock off films you get out the bargain bin at Sumerfield.

I don't know why i bought this. Maybe because I was having an emotional Heath Ledger tribute which involved purchasing a load of his films. I'm sorry to say this was a really dire film. The plot although i'd originally thought of it as looking fantastic, was really bad!! Really bad. Sorry Heath, but everyone makes a couple of dud films, even you.

DVD : A Knight's Tale [2001]
A Knight's Tale is the story of a peasant's son who is able to "change his stars" after becoming a knight's page. This entertaining film is set in Europe in the Middle Ages, and keeps our attention with good acting, humor, and without the help of super special effects. The dialog and soundtrack of mainly rock music takes us outside the usual costumed theme.

The "knight" (Heath Ledger) earns the love, respect, and loyalty of his peers and others with his bravery, sense of honor, and strength of character. Although the plot is simple, the interaction of the characters keeps your interest, and I came away with a better understanding of tilting contests and the sports or jousting. The opening scene gives you a promise of what to expect, ... Read More:

I rented this and have to say that I was disappointed by the visual quality of the film on Blu Ray. I do not actually think it was any better than the DVD (which I own) except marginally. For perhaps a couple of scenes the picture quality was good and clearly HD.

I have to disagree with the other reviewer who says that the picture quality is outstanding, it is not at all. Plenty of grain and not a sharp picture.

As for the sound, either 5.1 or PCM uncompressed. As my amplifier does not have an HDMI slot I cannot use PCM uncompressed sound and so cannot comment on that. the 5.1 sound was ok but again no better than the DVD.

The film itself is great, which is why I own it on DVD and why I rented it on Blu Ray. I was ... Read More:

Greetings boyles and ghouls! Ever heard of a three scar review, well kiddies that brings to mind the man in tonights terror tale of blood, brits and a budget that would make Robert Deadford barf. This is the last of the series and can I say that I was a bit dissapointed, this season is filmed in britain so that doesnt bother me been a fellow brit myself but the real issue with this is that the stories are mundane and the FX are clearly lacking. Unlike the rest of the series I didnt really enjoy the majority of this season, I didnt laugh much or jump with the frights!!! except maybe from the Kidnapper episode that was freaky. 3 stars I shall give as it isnt terrible its just lacking and it left me wanting some justification at the end for such a low browed season. ...
