I'm so glad other reviewers agree with my opinion on Ladies Who Do. It's a fine piece of social history and has some great stars in it. I remember watching it as a child and loved it. I was not disappointed when I saw it again 30 years later. It truly is an age we will never see again.

Aarrh, Mateys! Ivvry Sunday arternoon I set me dahn an' watched this. 'Twere wunnerfu'. And having just bought the complete series from Amazon - to watch it and find the magic is still there. What if it is dated? What if it was made (mostly) on small sound stages? The sea effects are wonderful for the time. An' I'm reddy to tak' on Linda fer Leften'nt Beamish wi' cutlasses or pistols anyday. O.K., so it's daft, it's over-dramatised but the acting is good and believable. And it is (still) totally enjoyable - even after 50 sump'n yeers.

I had the rare pleasure of few birthday presents last week-plenty of money instead. This was one of my little indulgences and am I glad I indulged!! First broadcast in Autumn 1960, this is the start of a consumate TV program that has lasted staggeringly well. The original 39 episodes begin with this set and share several winning ways:- a) Half-Hour long:-no fannying about, thank you! The story has to be concluded in that time, so things move fast.
