... that I was alive then. I love all the music in the movie and it feels very real in a unbelievable and fantastic rock and roll world. Jason Lee is superb (as is everyone in this rich and talented cast) and the band Stillwater are so good you wish they had released a record themselves (since they did play the music and sing in the movie) If you have somehow passed this movie over before or dont even like this music, the heart and relationships in the movie will make up for that. This movie warrants many MANY viewings and gets better with each one.

I absolutely loved this movie - I found it haunting, beautiful and strange. Fantastic soundtrack too - especially the use of Good Vibrations.

I came to this film b/c I knew Peter Gabriel's evocative "In your eyes" features in it. What a pleasant surprise! Being rather superficial - perhaps not -how nice to see a bunch of actors who have not been buffed in a sleek Hollywood manner, they are normal shapes/ sizes, they can act and convey emotion without designer intervention! The plot I liked, was a little unconventional, which was good; dramatic developments without hysteria or melodrama. A good ensemble piece. John Cusack is excellent; his sister Joan - always fab- lends support too. There is a cute kid but he's just that, normal with some hcarming moments. If you take the equation of bigness of Cruise face on DVD cover as inversely proportional to the quality of the film you find it on, you should be able to avoid these seriously bad films. Yet again no awards for Toms own take on the acting profession that he tries and fails to be a part of. The story is sentimental trash, the writing is terrible and the car chases are virtually non-existant. This is another Cruise missile aimed directly at the soul of the viewers, way off target and fizzling out before ever being a serious threat. Avoid this tramp of a film.

This is simply one of the best films I have ever seen. As someone that grew up in the 70s, this brings back so many memories and to see it in all of its Blue-Ray glory is amazing! True, it's missing some of the extras from the original 2-disc relaease. However, for anybody that loves music the loss is easily made up for by the true HD sound and picture quality. A solid purchase.

I can't believe my eyes. All these bad reviews for what can really only be described as a sincere, heartwarming tale. No, it's not high drama, and may be unrealistic, but a lot of films are supposed to represent a FANTASY to get the mind going (if you have one). Don't like this concept? Why are you watching movies at all? Go watch the news for realism and get totally depressed about our crappy world. Leave the rest to enjoy themselves any way they can, while they can.
