I bought this for my 6 and 9 year old girls, we watched it once and they told me they never want to see it again.
They sat horror-struck at the worsening cruelty and rejection suffered by the poor horse. Me too.I kept wondering why it's hailed as a great family film when we all felt miserable by the end! Not even seeing Sean could cheer me up.
I daren't even give it to a charity shop for fear of traumatising any more kids.

I bought this item for my niece and have been told that they are now her favourites. I was going to buy them individually but this was a much better solution. Two beautiful stories on one DVD.

To start with I have to say that this is one of the best films that I have ever seen. The reason - it really is simply magical; it has a lovely feel about it that can't be expressed in words.

Now to those who want a story accurate to the traditional German folk story, as was collected by the Brothers Grimm, this may not be for you. It in fact is really quite different though it does stick to the general premise. It incorporates a mix of elements, many new, however others taken from "The Snow Queen". However, as all folk and fairy tales change over time, this version is no inferior to any other, and in my opinion at least this is the best.

Many reviewers have called this a "dark" film. I wouldn't necessarily agree, though it ... Read More:
