I can't believe that no-one has yet reviewed this film it came out in a fanfare of publicity and has been out on DVD for ages. Well here we go - this is a must-see for dog-owners.The film's premise is how a number of dogs are prepared for a dog show in America. The dogs aren't the problem - it is their kooky owners who range from the suburban anally retentive to the southern state in-bred red-necks. The humour is subtle, cruel and very funny and the film is a delight from beginning to end. Particularly hilarious is the ribald comments made by the American judge of the show to his British counterpart, as the dog's undercarriage is checked, for example,"You don't see that on Carnaby Street!" A really delightful film that will stand up to many ... Read More:

The fact that you can now buy Waiting For Guffman on Region 2 DVD should be enough to make you part with your cash. Having Best In Show and A Mighty Wind included in the box-set as well, and being able to get all three for under twelve quid, makes this a no-brainer. I paid fifteen quid to import the Region 1 version of WFG from Canada four years ago, when I realised you couldn't get it on Region 2 at the time.

All Chris Guest films follow a similar theme - a documentary style first introduced in This Is Spinal Tap, concentrating on a group of people who all feel very passionate about the subject of the movie. In this case, we have an amateur dramatics scenario, where residents of the Missourri town of Blaine are putting on a show to ... Read More:

Now I am a folk musician, and I thought it was marvellous. It's not as funny as Spinal Tap, but a lot better than Best In Show. It affectionately spoofs 60's American Folk, but I have to say thet the music, not counting the contributions of the superbly cheesy New Main Street Singers, is genuinely excellent. All are excellent musicians and singers, esp Eugene Levy, playing the "casualty" Mitch who gives a marvellous impression of being a rusty musician, whilst (spoiler?) pulling it out of the bag when it really counts.

This is a fine comedy movie from the Spinal Tap people. There are great one liners and a terrific cast. This is a small gem, a wonderful film.

This is very clever hilarious satire. Like Woody Allen the jokes are sometime subtle. Some of the cameos are superb, watch for Nina Conti and her cheeky monkey. However, I suspect a lot of the joke will be missed unless you know what the Jewish festival Purim is. As Ricky Gervais's character says, the film needs to be less Jewish to appeal, but that would destroy the point of the film.

The one disappointment is the ending, it fizzles out rather than having a definitive ending. I guess that the weakness of the mockumentary style.

Lewis and Clark as it could have been. Shaquinna (Lisa Barbuscia) with Bartholomew Hunt and Leslie Edwards are challenged to beat Lewis and Clark to the Pacific. They face many challenges form bears, eagles and the mad conquistador, Hidalgo (Kevin Dunn.) Will they do so? And at what cost?
This movie consists of many comic scenes and slapstick sketches. The main theme is held together by Lisa, who plays the counter part of Sacagawea. She would not look bad on the golden dollar either...
