At first I was not sure about buying the DVD version of this album as I already had the CD and some of my favourites such as Holiday, Crazy For You & Live To Tell were not present. However, after buying it, I now prefer the DVD version. The reason for this is that the songs are in their original form and not mixed like on the CD. Plus videos such as the superbly camp Material Girl, the glossy Express Yourself and the 1940s themed Vogue all stand out as music video classics. Other highlights include the emotional Oh Father and the very early Lucky Star. If you do not own any Madonna albums I would strongly recommend this DVD album and 1989's Like A Prayer on CD.

The Biography Channel had this Pretenders / Chrissie Hynde documentary on about 3 times, someone told me about it once, I missed it the second time and watched it the third. It was great. The story of how Chrissie 'came up' amongst her peers in The Damned, Lemmy from Motorhead, The Clash etcetera and how she became driven to forming her own band by seeing their success. Excellent. But I couldn't find it anywhere on DVD - odd! Then, through a long story I won't bore you with, I found the doc to be a part of this 'Greatest Hits' DVD - bloody marvellous! So if you missed it too, look no further; if I HAD looked further I would have found it much sooner.

Ok, so the videos are all from the 80s, when the music videos were still evolving. Yet Eurythmics did some great ones, simple yet effective. "Love Is A Stranger" is a delight, with Annie disguising herself in fur and wigs for the first time. "Who's That Girl" where she goes as far as kissing herself (as a man - see to believe), "Miracle Of Love", which still touches everyone who was not too young when it came out. With that offcenter close up in a grainy black and white, oh man, I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
