Perfectly written, cast and filmed there really is no television series that can rival Band of Brothers. The Blu Ray release only adds to the experience, the 1080p picture is perfection but perhaps more importantly the DTS-HD sound is simply stunning if run through a home cinema surround sound system, the battle scenes are awesome and the explosions will have ornaments falling off your wall. The sound also brings to life the superb score by Michael Kamen, there is not a finer movie or TV soundtrack around, a true masterpiece. Full credit to Hanks, Spielberg, the BBC and HBO for giving us this classic and absolute respect to the real men of Easy Company, totally inspiring.

This is the seventh box set taking the excellent 'Sopranos' to it's inconclusive conclusion. The final nine episodes included here are of the same high standard as those before it and continues the build up of tension started in Season six part 1. Anybody who has watched the show and has got to this late stage in the saga will not be needing a review to decide on a purchase, you're going to buy it anyway!!. To those people it is an excellent buy. i'm just a little disappointed that the cost has remained substantially higher than all the series before it. You've got to buy it to complete the set and they know that! For this point alone i've reduced the score to four stars.

seem to have a different opinion from so many other viewers, since I really enjoyed the first half of season six. Seeing Tony get shot, not by season one's physically and mentally vigorous Uncle Junior, as I had kept anticipating that season, but by the toothless demented Uncle Junior, believing he was shooting someone else entirely was priceless irony. I loved the part with Tony in the coma in our world, while -wherever he was - he was exactly what he had always dreaded being - a nobody. Worse, he's a traveling salesman who is "trapped" and unable to get home. When Tony comes out of his coma, he vows to change and take every day as a gift, but later he is gradually pulled back into his old ways, since his position as boss really gives him no alternative. ... So the series that had it all has ended. For all of you that missed this when run on Channel 4 and its offshoots over the past eight years or so snap this up. HBO have delivered the best TV drama bar none over the past decade (sorry beeb but there is more to quality drama than crinolines and bonnets). The magnificent Band of Brothers, the glossy, sumptuous Rome,the peerless The Wire and the quirky Deadwood and Carnivale. This demonstates that the creative talent is out there but constrained by the pressure of Nielsen ratings and the blandness of network TV strictures in the US of A. The first couple of episodes are thinner than expected and I wondered what I'd got myself into but patience is rewarded as the series develops: the plots improve dramatically and the actors settle in to their roles. Not as good as the HBO/Baltimore shows but it may evolve some more.

This series following the experiences of a group of para's (101st Airborne division) from the training camp to the wars end is filled with pure class. It starts out following the main group but as the series moves on the empathises changes to individuals perspectives. For instance in one episode we see the main focus on Lt Walters and another episode the focus will shift to another member of the group, Doc Roe for example. The cinematography is on a par with a high budget Hollywood production. With directors like Tom Hanks and Producers like Steven Spielberg, you know your not going to see cardboard cuts outs and water painted backgrounds. This is a very, very good TV show. If you have never seen it, it is definitely worth buying for the (very low) Amazon price. I find myself loving this series an inordinate amount, probably against my better judgement. But its charm and wit are more than enough to mostly obscure its faults. It is wonderfully shot. The tone is dark and moody with the characters often shot in silhouette and I love the way in which the set, car and props seem dusty and used. Unlike many current TV shows everything is not clean and characterless and sanitized. It is this that partly makes the show believable. It does not take place in the bright lights of the modern city with its shiny labs and FBI offices but in the more timeless diners and motels of small town America. ... Read More:
