Ive seen the original and ive watched this one countless times and what can i say but the remake is so much better! The cars, the story, the cast are all phenominal. Nick cage plays a blinder as a retired car theif brought out from retirement to aid his dimwitted brother secure cars for a pre doctor who cristopher ecclestons british baddie! The chase scenes are great to watch the cars are good to look at angelina jolie is just the cherry on the cake! even vinne jones plays a lovable character! This film is all about speed and fast cars, its a great film that can be enjoyed over and over again!

This movie makes a lot of promises all along, but does not manage to materialize them. Despite some special effects (not all so special in fact), stunting, violence, a bit of glamour, pseudo-cyber links, it does not manage to provide a convincing result. Some of the characters are well played (namely Ginger (Halle Berry) and Stanley (Hugh Jackman)), John Travolta comfortably plays his proven and apparently preferred tough guy role. But that is not enough. A movie where people are killed and then resurrected, that leaves the audience wondering who actually end up enjoying the big bucks (the real guy or someone else who had been impersonating him since a not well defined time of the movie), cannot be convincing. A typical jerry bruckheimer no brains all action film, anyone who likes either fast cars or nick cage will like this. The blueray its self is very good quality with bright,vibrant and sharp picture quality and excellent sound to boot, the disc is only let down by its limited extra features. If you havn't already got this on dvd then this is certainly worth a look. What I watched it on. Panasonic 42px60 (plasma 1080i) playstation 3 blu-ray player (HDMI) JVC th-v70r surround sound (optical) (dolby digital 5.1) (inc tannoy m1 front L/R speakers)

The sense of foreboding, right from the beginning, is almost tangible... a straight couple on a road trip with a serious mission unwittingly pick up a 'white trash' couple, with a hideous secret as baggage, to help pay for the trip. Without a doubt the star of this film is Juliette Lewis as Adele, the ill-treated girlfriend in denial of the creeping evil that is unfolding before her. There is some expectation of greatness from Brad Pitt as the murderous lead, but Lewis gets under the skin in a much more absorbing and emotional way - and she also gets the last, rather unexpected, line... To say this movie came out 7 years ago, when blu-ray and HD was unheard of, this movie is AMAZING on Blu-Ray. I've always loved the film, but it has re-kindled my love for this classic. And I think that's what Blu-Ray is all about. Get it. Watch it. Love it.
