I just love films like this, the special effects are fantastic, they dont make films like this anymore, its a pity as we english used to be leading the best film industry in the world. now we are hopless at making great films our American cousins have lead the way for such a long time.I also like this film as its location is Canary Islands in Tenerife, it is a lovely place its well worth a visit.

DVD : Pete's Dragon [1977]
Pete (Sean Marshall) is a poor orphan. He's been adopted by the mean Gogan family run by the matriarch Lena (Shelley Winters). The Gogans make him work from morning til night and beat him for the slightest thing.

So, naturally, he runs away. Only this time he has help in the form of Elliot. Elliot is a dragon. And while he doesn't always think about what he's doing, he means well. And he really wants to help Pete.

Pete and Elliot happen to find the town of Passamaquoddy on the coast of Maine. Their first trip through town doesn't go well, so they find themselves out by the lighthouse, where they make friends with Lampie (Mickey Rooney) the lighthouse keeper and his adult daughter Nora (Helen Reddy). Have they ... Read More:

DVD : Greyfriars Bobby [1960]
Having been to Edinburgh and seen the statue of Bobby, this film had some meaning for me. Film makers - including Disney - just don't make films like this anymore, probably because society has changed so much since this was filmed in 1960.

There is no violence, no swearing, the dog is real, and there is no animation - it's a sweet film that'll gently tug on your heart strings. It's innocence is so very touching and it's a classic example of the type of films my parents grew up watching and that I can now appreciate.

If you're a dog lover then it'll warm your heart, and if you want to show your children a sweet film that will show them a bit of history, won't frighten them, or teach them bad habits then Greyfriar's Bobby is just ... Read More:

Think of "Forbidden Planet" (1956) and you think of Anne Francis. There were space movies before this and after this yet Ann Francis is the definitive space babe. After watching "One Million Years B.C.", Raquel though a little fuzzy will always be in our minds.

This story is the definitive girl meets Dino. It is not all just a fury story there is a script and love involved. Then there are the haps and mishaps of the Shell people Vs the Stone people.

If the pre-historic menagerie looks familiar, with the exception of the iguana, we can thank Ray Harryhausen's talents. This movie is a classic on many levels and should be in your collection.

If you are only interested in fur bikinis, then your next picture should be "Caveman" ... Read More:

I bought this box-set with some doubts as some of the reviews mentioned it didnt play on british dvd players - be in no doubt - this box-set is Region 2 (as advertised) and plays perfectly on all u.k. dvd players. Recommended for all fans of 80's cult shows - great quality and covers all episodes, great stuff!

DVD : The Three Lives of Thomasina [1963] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
Paul Gallico's charming little story "Thomasina" is turned into an equally lovely little Disney film from 1964 directed by Don Chaffey ("Greyfriars Bobby"). Veterinarian Andrew MacDhui (Patrick McGoohan) is a widower who is raising his young daughter Mary (Karen Dotrice) in Scotland in 1912. Andrew has no empathy for the townsfolk who love their pets and when Mary's beloved cat Thomasina is injured he quickly decides the animal should be killed. Mary is distraught and Andrew simply cannot understand why the logic of the situation is not clear to the girl. Mary and her friends prepare an elaborate funeral for Thomasina, at which point Lori MacGregor (Susan Hampshire) shows up. The children think she is a witch, but in truth she lives in the woods and nurses injured animals back ... Read More:

Reviewer: S.A.S.D - See all my reviews
This is a very special season for all fans specially because Farrah Fawcett is back for a few special guest star episodes and this is the last season for Kate Jackson. All them are lovely, it is nice to see how Farrah and Cheryl Ladd mix so well, and Jaclyn Smith! The episodes are mostly enjoyable, although first season is the best, followed closely by second; the third season is also very watchable. Can't wait to have seasons 4 and 5! Hey, Sony guys, we fans want Thiffany and Julie!

God, how did I make it through this...? This film is best forgotten. I only watched it as it was a Hammer production, but it certainly didn't feel like one.

Even the title is bizarre as there were no Vikings in Britain during the Roman occupation (the basic premis of the film). The accents are strange as well - the Viking Queen, for example, speaks with a curious mix of English, Scottish and Irish regional variations. Oddly enough, we also have early Britons worshipping Zeus here (???).

This is not a horror film or a thriller. Instead, it's a basic story of a Roman Governor in the south of occupied Britain who wants to marry the young local queen. A revolt is engineered by a group of merchants after their taxes are arbitarily raised (by 150%), and all ... Read More:
