Having seen 'The London That Nobody Knows' as a support ( I suppose I could just as easily have bought a truss) many moons ago ( Too many to painlessly recall ), I just had to have it when it came out on DVD; why?
Who knows, having thrashed around the dingier parts of London at that time I surmise that I may just be wallowing in nostalgia - fun isn't it?
I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewers comments, although it appears to me that James Mason, at times, looks decidedly ill-at-ease, nonetheless it's worth every penny to see what we have lost.

As for 'Bicycles', just what is it all about? If it is meant to be allegorical, sorry but the allegory is lost on me (Nothing new there then), and what is an unaccompanied ... Read More:

Very pleased to see this again. A dark comedy, very funny and the actors seem to relish their roles. A joy to watch.

As a general rule, I am not especially drawn to horror films - even those which have a strong vein of comedy running through them - but Theatre of Blood (Douglas Hickox, 1973) is one of the exceptions.

Firstly, it has a very imaginative premise:- Ham Shakespearean actor forced out of his profession by a "circle" of theatre critics decides to revenge himself on the lot of them, by murdering them one by one in ways that have been directly lifted from Shakespeare's plays. He is assisted in this by a new "company of players" he has recruited from the ranks of London's down and outs. At this point, Theatre of Blood reminded me of Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange which came out a couple of years earlier. And it's none the worse for that.

A great film of the British army;s most crushing defeat. A great cast and beautifully shot on location in Africa. It recaptures the flavour of one of imperialism's follies.

A good movie with a good cast. John Wayne is in London on the hunt for a Chicago gangster played by John Vernon. Unfortunitly he has been kidnapped by some British gangsters. One of the top sequences in this movie is when Brannigan drives a yellow 1974 Ford Capri in a car chase. Over all a great and funny action thriller from the seventees.

DVD : Sins - Complete [1986]
The '80s were the era of the miniseries - big name (for TV anyway) stars, theme songs by well-known singers, international locations - it was all there. The miniseries was the visual form of the blockbuster novel, a genre that seems sadly lost to all us TV junkies now. The classics of this wickedly enjoyable genre included "Lace", "Hollywood Wives", "Deceptions", "Scruples" - and "Sins". Only the latter has been released on glossy DVD - so far - and you should lap it up while it is available.

"Sins" is a perfect example of classy trash. Starring then TV queen Joan Collins, this slickly produced sudser features an incredible all-star cast, a deliciously implausible story, exotic and beautiful locations, and a record 85 costumes changes for Joan. Carly Simon sings ... Read More:

DVD : Theater of Blood/Madhouse (REGION 1) (NTSC)
I have already reviewed the magnificent theatre of blood so I just want to talk about madhouse. Madhouse is an odd thriller first of all there is nothing slightly supernatural about this film it is a thriller with horror actors about a horror actor.
Price is the horror actor Cushing is his co creator and writer. Price has a nervous breakdown after compelting his latest film as dr death and finding his beautiful young wife missing a head. When he recovers he has an opportunity to play Dr Death again when all of a sudden the killings start again is it Dr Death or is someone tring to drive Vincent nuts. Decent horror film with good performances from price and cushing

I finally have finally viewed this hard-to-find item [at least in the UK] and it is a mixed bag of routine melodrama and effective suspense.

The first part of the movie entails a too-large cast of unknown curio actors, sombrely relaying the proceedings with stoney-faced conviction.

It's the BEHEMOTH we shelled out to see, however, and when he finally appears, he is an effective, memorable addition to the annals of ANIMATED MODELDOM. Working exceptionally well in extreme close-up, the hyper-detailed model exudes slimy menace, and is enhanced with several cuts that blend in live-action stampeding from the human victims within the same frame.

Good use is made of partial-miniature sets and even cut-out background photos of buildings, [a far cry from ... Read More:
