I miised this when it was originally on. I don't know how or why as it screams for watching by anyone that's ever been a gleefully geeky type into the sci-fi/fantasy genres that this often references.

The series is excellent. Nothing lets it down. The characters are well realised, the dialogue is spot on, the humour can be a mix of subtle references, situational funnies, and glorious explosions of banter.

This DVD set is also a winner. Like with the Shain of the Dead/Hot Fuzz DvD's, they show a love of the medium. There's options and options, all wrapped up in evocative UI's. This also has an idle mode that is worth letting run a while too.

I remember going to see this and I actually cried with laughter. It's so random and silly, you can't help but smile. We need to watch out for these villages eh? I'll be keeping an eye on my neighbours in future. ;)
I remember a few people criticised it and said it was completely pointless with no solid plotline whatsoever, but I believe that is the whole idea. It's not meant to, because that is the style of these actors and writers. However, that point cannot be applied to Run Fatboy, Run and Shaun of the Dead, as they did have a central storyline. The fact that Hot Fuzz appeared so spontaneous was what made you laugh.
Oh the whole drama with the swan, I was in agony with laughter- a perfect method of stopping the evil villain of the ... Read More:

This film is superb fun, and has plenty of really good laughs as well as brilliant scenes with zombies. It's a very inventive film that lifts the horror-comedy movie to a level that hasn't been seen for a long time.

This is a really enjoyable bit of nonsense that I'd recommend to anyone. Great stuff.

The screening the above reviewer refers to was indeed priceless but the films in that show were from a few years later and will no doubt appear in a future collection - so if you're looking for "Night Mail", this isn't the one to get though it is currently avalaible on the "Night Mail" DVD. This DVD features:

The Coming of the Dial (Stuart Legg 1933), Cable Ship (Alexander Shaw, Stuart Legg 1933), Granton Trawler (John Grierson 1934), John Atkins Saves Up (Arthur Elton 1934), Air Post (Geoffrey Clark 1934), The Glorious Sixth of June (Alberto Cavalcanti 1934), Pett and Pott (Alberto Cavalcanti 1934), 6.30 Collection (Harry Watt, Edgar Anstey 1934), Weather Forecast (Evelyn Spice 1934), Song of Ceylon (Basil Wright 1934), A Colour Box (Len Lye ... DVD : Spaced: Series 1 [1999]
A appraisal of this British television sitcom starring Simon Pegg, currently in How to Lose friends and Alienate People and in last year's Hot Fuzz.
The cover of the second series DVD case quotes SFX magazine in calling this `literate and intelligent.' The first series' cover proclaims this original and award winning. Yet despite its cult status and warm recommendations, I struggle to see the appeal and quality.

The premise is that two mid twenties strangers bond over their unsuccessful flat hunt, and pose as a couple to obtain a flat. Their north London home introduces us to their live in landlady...

To my shame I gave the first series of spaced 4 stars. It should have been five. This is a very enjoyable, witty sitcom. and I can now say with all confidence it matches The Office and Fawlty Towers (and Phoenix Nights)...YOU MUST WATCH THIS SERIES !!!!!!
