Denzil Washington stars in this high class chiller in which he plays a cop trying to deal with an opponent who could literally be anybody at any time. A good cast including John Goodman and Donald Sutherland provide excellent support. Combine this with a surprisingly clever script and decent direction and you'll find a film that thrills and surprises in equal measures. No more so than the ending which has a lovely twist which I certainly didn't see coming.

Fortunately for us there is no basis in reality for this story. If there was you'd look at people a little bit differently in future. Its also worth mentioning that I shall never hear a certain Rolling Stones song in the same way again after watching this film.

I'd just finished reading Karin Slaughter's book of almost the same name when this dvd popped through my letterbox so I initially thought - obviously mistakenly - that some film producer was ahead of the game!

As a thriller the film works well but only because of Anthony Hopkins as the lead criminal (if proven guilty, of course) and the attempt by a young legal hotshot, Ryan Gosling, to do just that.

Frankly, this would have been a run-of-the-mill made-for-tv film but for these two. Anthony Hopkins is magnificent as an aircraft engineer turned wife-killer who is determined to beat the rap.

I puzzled throughout the film until the answer was revealed just what he had done with the gun he used to kill his wife. Except ... Read More:

Having just watched Déja Vu for the first time, I have decided to go back in time and review Frequency in retrospect. Where the former has a rather unconvincing plot together with unsympathetic characters, Frequency is far more believable (as SF films go!), and the characters more three-dimensional and human. Where Déja Vu plods along and peters out at the end, Frequency keeps the momentum going throughout, and accelerates towards a thrilling finale.
There may be a few tiny holes in the time-travel department, but this does not detract from what is a hugely rewarding film.

I'm glad I've never seen the trailer since it sounds as if it would completely remove any element of surprise.

I bought this simply because I recalled a good review somewhere but all i knew was WWII/Willis/Farrell/POW really and the blurb on the back was brief to the point of secrecy. After only a few minutes though i was transfixed and remained for the next 120 minutes or so. The attention to detail, atmosphere, characterisation, plot twists are first class. It's real antidote to The Great Escape, the feeling of desperation, discomfort and sheer degredation of being a POW are starkly portrayed. The real surprise was Bruce Willis's underplaying and intensity allowing Colin Farrell the floor and elevating him to the real star turn. The other characters were ... Read More:
