The story line is loosely based on a book by Alice Hoffman. It is more of the screen play by Robin Swicord who also did the screen play for "Matilda" (1996).

Sisters Sally Owens (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Nicole Kidman) are brought up by their maiden aunts after their parents died. They learn of magic and its pluses and minuses by observing their aunts from a distance. They also have to overcome (if possible) the family curse that the gentlemen in their lives are distending to meat an early demise. One highlight of the movie is when we find that the other women in the village really did not distain the Owens's; is just that they have not been invited to help.

The story deviates from the book in the since that ... Read More:

The title sounds great and makes you want to watch but after viewing you're left bitterly disappointed.

It's Too predictable and there is limited chemistry between the cast. Don't really see were the "comedy" comes into it.

My advice is avoid this film.

As the title of this review indicates, this is one of the lessons they don't teach in school, and this is precisely what the film explores. Once the realization has been made that there is no way to return to the way things were, then the anger sets in, and in the case of this film the bar is continually raised by the two protagonists on ways to exact vengeance, to entertaining - and possibly cathartic - effect for the viewer.

It is wittily written, smoothly directed and edited, lovely to look at and features a camera obscura. It is also one of the most European films I have ever seen come out of America - definitely to its credit. It is dark and light in all the right places and the actors (particularly Karyo, who is always a pleasure ... Read More:

I found the motif of the 'Iskanani Tribe' as utterly impelling, and it works excellently in tandem with the actual brutality of the residents of Rich America. The story itself is moving, and it brought me to tears on several occasions, the acting is totally on point, particularly Chris Evans' character 'Bryce'. You can split the film in two, the first half is relatively introspective and slow, and the second half is dark and fast-paced with a climatic ending, and both halves work brillantly together. I highly recommend this film, it has an amazing twist, an emotive and engaging plot, and also a fresh take on western customs, exposing the savagery at the centre of our own 'tribes'.

what a great price for hours and hours of girliness!! these films are all great whether you are looking to be cheered up, need to be entertained whilst bed bound (I bought them whilst I had flu lol!) or just need a good laugh with your friends..

there is nothing conventionally classic about any of these films.. but they will all become classics in the 'girly movie' genre.. particualarly city of angels.. you will fall in love with nick cage when you watch this.. that is if you haven't already done so!

at the price you just can't say no really.. all three are good, funny romantic comedies.. it's not exactly oscar winning material, but it's got a good feel good factor and great comedy value..

preferably watched whilst wearing pyjamas, ... Read More:
