The service comedy is a genre almost as old as cinema itself and, whether it's Charlie Chaplin or Victor McLaglen and Edmund Lowe in the trenches, Andy Griffith befuddling his sergeants, the Carry On team on the assault course or Steve Guttenberg and co at the Police Academy, has an almost immutable formula that is never, ever departed from: through mildly comic misadventure misfit(s) find themselves in the army/navy/air force/police force, are hopelessly unprepared for the harsh realities of basic training, fumble every task yet somehow come out of it all as the perfect soldier/sailor/airman/cop and prove themselves in a mildly comic baptism of fire. Private Benjamin does absolutely nothing to fix what ain't broke, contenting itself to offer ... Read More:

'What's Up Doc?' is a fabulous film, endlessly rewatchable, totally madcap, brilliantly scripted, cast, directed, you name it. A total success.
'Nuts' is highly watchable, if you like Barbra Streisand, has good support from Richard Dreyfuss, and... well, it's all a bit predictable and sentimental.
'Up the Sandbox' is a minor film that's like the curate's egg. I like the idea of the film, and Barbra's performance is unusually understated. But there are too many very long daydream sequences that are really quite tedious and unbalance the film. Not bad though, if you're a fan.
'The Main Event' is a tedious boxing movie starring a heavy-looking Ryan O'Neal and a Barbra desperately trying to move the leaden plot along. Very, very boring and ... Read More:

This is comedy at its best, and also has that 80's feel,a good story, specific to comedies until the 90's when they started to rarely have an interesting one.Four mental patients suddenly find themselves alone on the run in the Big Apple and "better get sane real goddamn fast" , as they are being accused of attacking their psychiatrist -what a great premise for a comedy.Michael Keaton was born for this part, the "mental patient with a history of violence".Peter Boyle is also great as an ad executive who believes Jesus is speaking to him, Lloyd and Furst are also great.Combined with the great dialog, delivers one of the best comedies made in the 80's.

Memorable quote:"Ah, it's great to be young and insane!"

4.My Girl 2 [1994] starring: Dan Aykroyd, Anna Chlumsky, Austin O'Brien, Jamie Lee Curtis, Richard Masur

If you want your kids to cry themselves to sleep then this is a great movie... if not it sucks...
I watched this as a kid expecting a nice film, and cried so much i made myself sick.
you don't expect kids to die in anything other than documentaries or real life stories..
I don't recommended this movie unless you actually want to depress yourself.

I didn't like this film as much as 'My Girl', but it was still good. Vada's grown quite a bit since the last movie, and persuades her Dad and Shelly to let her go to Los Angeles to visit Uncle Phil. She spends her days going round Los Angeles in search of information about her mother. She experiences panic, anger, shock, confusion about herself and growing up, as well as a little romance! Amazing acting again by Anna Chlumsky and the rest of the cast. A good movie to watch with your friends or on your own.

A comedy about what happens when four mental patients -- an aggressive sociopath, a Jesus freak with a penchant for removing his clothes at inopportune moments, an obsessive-compulsive with a neatness fetish, and a young man who can communicate only in baseball-speak -- are set free in Manhattan. It all begins when their doctor takes them on a day-trip to see a baseball game at Yankee Stadium. When the doctor is abducted after witnessing a murder, these four crazies are on their own. Each takes advantage of his freedom to pursue his own off-the-wall concerns before banding together again to rescue the doctor.
A brilliant comedy that just keeps giving!
