I have to start by saying that I enjoyed this film way more than I expected to. Not being a fan of Westerns or Russell Crowe, I wasn't expecting great things, but this film surprised me by keeping my entertained and completely 'in' the film the whole way through. The scenery and direction is superb, the acting is mainly good, the story, although implausible at times, was fun and interesting enough to keep me watching and the overall package makes for two hours of film viewing that is not too heavy and with plenty of fights and action sequences to boot. This is a movie to be enjoyed by all Cash fans. The two main actors give very good performances including the songs. I thought the portrayal of June Carter to be particularly attractive. Of course much is condensed from the real biography and at times I was glad I had some knowledge of it to understand the film. Similarly, while the songs were fine, the spoken dialogue was often unclear to me so i was glad I knew the basic story. It is a good portrayal of a troubled, turbulent great talent. Now I want to go and play the songs again.

The film is a 100% cowboy, proper good-old Western. Thumbs up and great acting. One comment that i have posted before for other films, Why doesnt Amazon provide with a subtitle list in order for non-uk europeans to be able to buy the films from here??? Any reviewer can add if there are Greek subtitles?

There's not a lot to say that hasn't already been said here! I knew very little about Cash besides the fact that he died not long ago and a friend is a huge fan of his music. However I was interested enough to want to see the movie and intrigued to see Reese W live out her childhood dream of being a country singer. Wow. It's a long movie but I hardly noticed. Some really truly great acting from both leads - a magnificent supporting cast. A compelling, dramatic, and moving story of redemption. Of necessity the film focuses on a relatively short period of Cash and Carter's life and the genesis of their relationship, but it whets the appetite to find out more about the man and his music. This movie is an absolute gem. The story as i'm sure you may know is about a modern day NYC girl and an 18th Century Duke who through a time hole meet up and fall in love. Yes I know it sounds soppy, yes I know it sounds a little nauseating but this movie is pure joy The acting and chemistry between Ryan and Jackman is beautiful and you can't help but get so involved in the characters and their lives and loves. The horseback scene is genius, you'll never be able to hear anyone talking about the Louvre without quivering, and the roof top dinner will become your benchmark for all future dates. this is a good, ubt underrated suspense film with a good twist but it still doesn't have the killer plot to make me cower under the cushions in the dark. Its a good film to watch to while away the hours but its not something you should get your hopes up for!

Copland is a great film. It has aged beautifully and is without doubt up there with the first Rocky outing as Stallone's best movie to date. In the process of gaining weight and really flexing his acting muscles as the shambling, deaf and washed up police cheif of Copland, the former Italian Stallion quite literally 'killed' his career. The film bombed at the cinema but found it's natural home on video/dvd. It's definately worth a second look. Sly more than holds his own in the heavyweight company of DeNiro, Keitel and Liotta. His everyman reluctant hero holds the film together and reminds you what a prodigy he once once. It's an exciting, violent and well constructed movie that has aged a lot better than it's star. It was a dark and stormy night. Several strangers, that we are slowly (very slowly) introduced to through a series of out of disordered flashbacks, are force to stay in a sleazy motel. As with all sleazy motels people start to dismantle "Fargo" style. The characters have the audacity to compare their situation to Agatha Christie's "Ten Little Indians" so is the last one standing the culprit? At least we are not treated to a gushy love story overlay. All the gimmicks in the world can not disguise this common slasher movie as a physiological thriller.

Probably one of the best-acted movies I've seen - the characters are so believable. And the movie is shot in such a way that there are times that you actually feel like you're there in the hospital. It is also well written in the fact that you actually care about what happens to these people. (Who wasn't heart-broken for Daisy?) It's quite a bleak and depressing film, maybe not one to watch if you're feeling a little low.
