Torchwood with very adult style is brillent. The first series sparkled onto on BBC Three in October 2006 and the first two episodes rocked. With the crossover to Doctor Who in End Of Days was a true masterpiece and you can see the crossover in Upotipa the thrid season of Doctor Who. Despite not ever doing a post-watershed show Russell T Davies has done a fanastic job. Torchwood rocks Love the second series as well

I live in the United States...and couldn't find any of the Christmas specials sold individually here. So imagine how ecstatic I was to discover that I could purchase them even if they're from the UK. So I place my order and wait excitedly....only to realize that when I popped it into my DVD player, that it was incompatible. Why was there no warning to Americans? I understand that this is Amazon.uk...but still, there ought to be a warning telling Americans like me that these DVDs won't work with American equipment. I feel cheated and now there is no way I can send these DVDs back.

How such unutterable tripe came to be created is beyond me. Despite distinguished creators, a decent cast and a respectable budget, we got something that was badly written, badly acted and looked cheap. Which doesn't even begin to adequately describe the mind-boggling badness of it all. Their historical and archaeological advisor seems to have been present only to ensure that all traces of accuracy were removed. Alarm bells already started ringing in my head as soon as the Templars were mentioned - writers of fiction seem unable to escape the rubbish about them being guardians of secret knowledge and all that rot which Dan Brown and a host of pseudo-historians got rich on. I never watch Doctor Who, I always thought of it as dumb sci-fi, so I was surprised when I saw these three episodes on TV. If you've never watched Doctor Who before, buy this DVD first before any others (although there's some in-jokes there that you don't get if you're not a fan). There are three episodes on here and the first up is Human Nature, where a school teacher dreams of havign adventures in space. Worst episode on the disc, but still very scary. Baines, the villain is a brilliant actor and those scarecrows are... scary. THe second is the second part of Human Nature; Family of Blood. More Baines, more scarecrows, and some truly sad moments. The 4 episodes on this DVD release contain 2 strong episodes, and two which didn't feel as strong. I wavered on giving this 3 stars but ultimately felt it deserved 4. Countricide was a fantastic episode, probability the best on this release - a good dose of scariness and gruesome scenes! Greeks Bearing Gifts (Episode 7) was a great too. We got to see more of Toshiko, but some of the early scenes seemed a bit contrived just for that episode to make sure we knew that she felt like a bit of an outsider. Still, it was nice to see her 'bloom' as a character. Daniela Denby-Ashe was brilliant as Mary. Another sexually charged episode, and it worked in this episode - it didn't feel as though it was there just for the sake of it like it had in others. ... Read More:
